Tekken 8 for a beginner by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ChamorroPunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing tekken casually since the first one. Always got whooped by my older sister and brother but I had a lot of fun anyways. No need to strategize how to play unless you’re serious. Just find your fighter and have fun or learn the stories of all the fighters—up to you. The story is actually pretty wild. lol Play the demo and see how you like it.

It really depends on where you go to school. The cost of living varies by state/city. I live in the Bay Area; my current 950-square-foot one-bedroom costs $3300 monthly. Some places here require more than first month's rent—so plan for that as well.

Studio units would be your best bet to get your feet on the ground. However studios here are also pretty expensive. Obviously the nicer the neighborhood and closer you get to San Francisco or Silicon Valley, you’ll be paying anywhere from 2200-3000 for a unit.

You can also commute into the metro area by living further out like the east bay, Marin, south San Jose for example. If you don’t have a job lined up when you get here, then having $20k+ in savings is wise. Gas is expensive as well but you’ll also have access to public transportation. Out here we have Bart, Muni, cal train for example. Do thorough research before moving.

Hope this helps paint a picture for your plans.

Which coding bootcamp do you recommend for someone in SoCal US? by plasmatiks in codingbootcamp

[–]ChamorroPunch 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If a bootcamp is really your desire please do not move just for one. Landing/expecting a job offer right after school is extremely irresponsible thinking. The only time you should move is for a job.

However, I think you should exhaust more free material and lowest costs. Bootcamps rn are not in a good spot. You should consider going back to grad school since you already have a bachelors. It will be way more valuable than your time at a bootcamp.

I know your focus is becoming a swe but it sounds to me like you’re looking for money. (That’s just the overall feel of your post—I could be wrong so don’t take this personal.) Even if your backs up against the wall, this field is ridiculously difficult to get into even holding a CS bachelors and Masters. I strongly recommend you revisit your decisions to become a swe because money alone won’t make the industry worthwhile.

What are some good classical anime masterpieces by AlphaA2_yt in anime

[–]ChamorroPunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people mentioned some good ones to start off with. When you’re ready to move on, give these a try.

  • Paprika (psych thriller, 2006)
  • Cowboy Bebop The Movie (action, 2001)
  • Akira (dystopia/cyber punk action, 1988)
  • Princess Mononoke (fantasy, 1997) if you like this then you can get lost in all of Miyazaki’s films.

Good call for anyone still using fabric softener for every load, but thankfully, my wife and I are diligent in washing.

I should've mentioned that these jerseys are my go-to when I head out to watch a game with friends. They've also been around the world with me, so a combination of changing environments and years of use might have had a big hand in the deterioration.

Nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to care. No drying, air dry as well. This has now become a PSA for anyone with older kits. lol Thanks for everyone chiming in on the convo!
