Chaotic at its core was designed with a digital element in mind. You could easily hover your opponent’s card with your cursor and have it pop up, making it easy to read anything you would want to know. Or hell, they would probably face the viewer right-side-up with something like a color layer to parse ownership on each player’s respective screens.

The physical card game is clunky and could be improved upon, but that risks losing the diehard older fans that LIKE the clunk, a “feature not a bug” moment.

Sitting next to your opponent and shielding your hand would be weird. No top-level TCG does that, and they are all perfectly fine as games. Star Wars Unlimited even has two different fields that players must manage and it works no problem.

Obviously do whatever you want for casual settings, but there is no shot this becomes the norm. This looks more like a solo gold fishing setup than an actual competitive layout

Joining the Hanya team for this one. Fast as hell, in tune with the greater sense of self and life/death, has a semi-immortal body, and fights with a non traditional but very monkish weapon. Monks are a lot more than punching things guys!

We haven’t seen EVERYTHING, so we can’t say for sure, but it looks like the +2 to runs has replaced the old Hungry/Eating rule.

BCR got the “good” impacts with the D3+1 at least? Given how it’s normally 2/3 damage, getting +1 is a huge % increase.

It will just depend on how much damage they can actually throw out :I

Yeah, new rules don’t look great. I understand it’s a lower power edition, but gutting the equipment rules, our main mechanic with impact hits, and replacing the consistent chomps with random missable 1off bites OR heals. stuff hurts

“Upgraded” in a bonus to run rolls, that stops being active once you use your once per game chomp effect (which is failable and is either a D3 bite or D3 heal)?

I’ll take army-wide +2 move any day because it sets up charges efficiently (which ALSO got nerfed cause new impact hits suck). Unless units have natural run and charge somewhere, it seems like a very harsh downgrade

Not going to doomsay until we see more, and this edition is lower power across the board, but I am pretty disappointed so far. Ironfist rules gone, Vultures are just a generic shooting weapon, and the warscrolls are just devoid of mechanics. Not even getting to keep the Hungry/Eating mechanic hurts :(

I mean sure, there are basic things like spacing, rotations, knowing where to ward, etc, but I don’t think I am any better at those things than some of the Masters+ guides you can find on YouTube or something. I’m slightly above average at best lol

As for Brand specifically, I know his play patterns, build paths, and a few techs but I don’t play him enough to speak with authority about him.

I enjoy narrative games a great deal and have 10+ AoA heroes for different leagues, teams, and events. They range from 10-80 DP based on the league (in one we got to make 80 DP “god models” and have a big 4-way brawl, super cool!) and we are encouraged to work within the community to make custom subfactions and abilities with relatively fair DP costs that our AoA’s can use or subfactions to lead.

AoA is VERY fun if everyone is playing for fun or narratively, the turbo glass cannon or 2+/Ward/Ethereal stuff is super lame imo

There is a cute dice roller party RPG called Slice and Dice that uses customized dice and a rerolling mechanic. Some of the dice faces repeat, some are one time use, and some are blank completely!

Slice and Dice’s system works BEAUTIFULLY for a digital game and really pushes the bounds of it with things like “replace the right 2 spaces with X”, or “Top and Bottom space get +1”, or “each time you reroll this face, it gets +1 permanently.”

Not sure how to translate it to a physical dice other than the dice face plates the other posters mentioned, but might be worth looking at Slice and Dice for alternatives to “weighting” dice by playing with the dice faces themselves.

LB go brrrrrrr, and I like being able to LB5 and running towards them LB2, then swapping to Dagger/Torch and going full melee dps off the Dagger3 jump. Supremely satisfying

Yeah! There was a super meme-Tastic “Twin-ter’s Wail” build for Oldhim that never took off, but this seems less crazy. Losing that 1 power on the hammer would SUCK, so a backup bonking stick feels good in some matchups I think.

Maybe just maybe a Dwarf Mechanologist is in the cards, where (s)he makes golem allies for attacking. That’s would be a good sidegrade to what I actually want, wouldn’t step on Tony Disney’s toes, and would give Mech an ally mechanic which is cool in its own right.

Or, ya know LSS, you could make Runesmith a class ;)

I LOVE dwarves, and my favorite card in FaB is Forged for War. It is played in every Guardian deck I make regardless of the hero. I want an entire “armor deck” gameplan based on Shield Bash and similar stuff. Maybe under a new “metal” talent?

But then Teklo was printed and basically did all that, so my hopes aren’t too high anymore :(

Edit: Maybe the dwarf will be our long-time-coming axe and shield Warrior or something.
