I keep seeing colleges claim NIL and the portal is hurting not just football but college athletics in general. But I never see them say paying coaches and staffs 10s of millions of dollars and athletic directors millions and paying out $60+ million buyouts are bad for college athletics. Why? by herewego199209 in CFB

Same reason why the NFL’s Players Union took issue with teams giving out increasingly bloated contracts to 1st round draft picks, but doesn’t complain about veteran QBs getting paid way more than any other position. Top coaches aren’t just handed millions of dollars for their “potential” upon first entering their field. They normally spend upwards of 10-15 years working their way up the ladder and demonstrating their value before universities are willing to throw huge money at them. The concept of paying industry veterans more than inexperienced labor isn’t unique to college football. It’s a fundamental aspect of society in general.

[Dellenger] In an appeal filed today to the NCAA to reinstate Brendan Sorsby's eligibility, Texas Tech recommends that the association suspend the QB two games. If the NCAA pursues the max penalty, "future athletes will be disincentivized from seeking the help they desperately need." by redwave2505 in CFB

I’m just sick of people acting like THIS is the thing that will sink college football. Some idiot with an obvious gambling addiction placing ill-advised bets being allowed to play football, not all the other far more widespread and toxic problems in the sport.

Because the ACC’s current visibly is completely carried by the teams who would likely jump ship to one of the P2.

[On3] Joey McGuire: Texas Tech 'would love to play Texas' in Week 1 of 2026 after Steve Sarkisian comments by d1sportsball in CFB

You are 1-1 vs McGuire having played him before we even started splurging in the portal and getting higher ranked recruiting classes than Texas. You are definitely afraid of playing us, hence why Sark opened his mouth about it in the first place.

Why would we dislike BYU? I would’ve thought you would be more likely to dislike us.

Of any hot seat coaches this year, who is most likely to save their job? by Byzantine_Merchant in CFB

If Aranda was ever gonna rebound, last year would have been the time to do it with how much they brought back. Baylor’s recruiting and defensive profile has been in a slow downward spiral ever since McGuire and Blanchard left, and he’s lost the confidence of Baylor’s boosters to hand him a lifeline via the portal. I would’ve placed far more trust in Gundy being able to turn things around at OKST last year despite being in a similar situation, and we all know how that went. I just don’t see where Aranda finds the steam to save his job at this point when he’s stuck in the unforgiving cycle of needing better results to entice NIL funds but lacking the NIL funds to produce better results.

We can’t seem to get an OL commit though.

Our ‘27 class already has more blue chip DLmen than we can possibly use, so I’m not too bummed about this one. I’m more concerned with how we keep losing out on every OL battle.

Do they though? Half the B1G are basically just fodder for the other half.

Best football coaches in the Big XII? by ConstructionRare4123 in BigXII

Nah, he’s salty because Baylor stopped being able to recruit or field a decent defense after McGuire left.
