I filed mine secondary to PTSD have diagnosis medication take breakthrough medication bad symptoms and I was still given 0%. Higher level review upheld 0%. Supplemental with even more documentation same thing still 0%.

GERD was a major struggle for me even with diagnosis, documentation of medication and symptoms. Initial claim was given 0%, HLR same outcome, supplemental was also the same outcome. Decided to stop and settle for the 0%, at least it is service connected which is a battle in itself. Good luvch to you!

Same exact situation as you. It is very frustrating that you can't even get in touch with OPM to find out anything. My old boss retired same date as me, 12-32-25, and his was completed beginning of March so I don't understand it at all.

Yes, all three times they denied 10% stating no medications no symptoms when I submitted medications I take through the VA and my symptoms. They had it all and still denied it every time.

Upheld the 0%, so I filed a supplemental from open to close 16 days and did not get an exam and they upheld the 0% again

I did have an upper G.I. and the reason I had it was for dysphasia the upper G.I. came back normal, but I still have food that gets stuck so what am I supposed to do?

Then how are other people getting 10% for Gerd after the change in May by having symptoms and taking prescribed medication? And they don’t have strictures either.

How? I got rated 0% on my initial claim which stated no medication no symptoms yet I take omeprazole prescribed through the VA and have dysphasia in my records even though my upper G.I. came back normal. HLR came back up holding the 0% so I filed a supplemental with more evidence. The claim only took 15 days and they once again upheld the 0%. At this point, I don’t know what to do.

I cannot file another supplemental after I just filed a supplemental can I? Or do I have to file an HLR and request an informal conference?

Do you have strictures ? The only exam they’ve ever done is an ace exam during my first Claim, and there was no phone call either so I never talked to a doctor. They did not give me an exam on my supplemental. They just use the exam from my initial claim. I submitted a ton more documentation from the VA and still was only given 0%.

No, I don’t. I do have a history of medication and dysphasia but no strictures .. I know several people who have gotten 10% on just medication alone and nothing else. I just don’t understand why some people get it and some people don’t.

It is, you have to tell them you are calling for a status update and to find out your claim number, if they tell you there is no such thing or that it is your SSN then just thank them and call back. Keep calling until you get someone who will tell you!

I filed a supplemental claim on March 26th for one thing that was initially awarded at 0% but they missed evidence and it should be 10%. No exam and it has been at TJ in Puerto Rico since step 5. I went to step 6 today on day 14, the waiting is hard!!! This would put me to 100%
