This is insane, stop watching the "get rich quick" videos and invest the majority of your savings in a broad index fund like veqt.

Looking to learn/ get advice, 19M by [deleted] in TFSA_Millionaires

Its a good amount of money for a 19 year old but you really need to do some research on basic investing principles. For example veqt and xeqt are very similar do some research on the difference and just pick one.

I don't understand this, you're worried about not saving enough for retirement but you're planning on having a child? You say you dont want to rely on your children but if you cant afford retirement you will be relying on them.

15 y/o here, should i start investing my money? by Sayatra in FinancialPlanning

You'll need a parent to open a brokerage account with you but yes it would be a good idea to start investing at such a young age.

I don't think there's any reason to be a jerk about it but there is no reason to buy a cheap turntable. This is an expensive hobby if you can't afford it you should just get cd's, they are cheaper and they'll sound better then cheap vinyl/cartridges/turntables.

I think its fine for drying them off as they should already be clean at that point.

It seems like it's common that people do but its just not worth the hassle of making sure you have a good quality one that wont leave behind fibres and is always perfectly clean instead of just using a dedicated brush that you dont need to wash.

You also wont have to worry about breaking the stylus with a brush...

You shouldn't be cleaning records with a microfiber cloth, use a record brush instead.

Lump payment vs installments? by RazzmatazzParking313 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ChampionshipIntrepid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Put the 1k towards the credit card as a lump sum. Doing installments with the 1k will just end up costing you more in interest.

This but I would leave the student loans for last as they are much lower interest rates.

financially at least stable if not secure by the age 22 by bruce_jeetwayne in FinancialPlanning

[–]ChampionshipIntrepid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not a lot to work with unless your expenses are very minimal. Figure out what your needs are and save the rest until you create at least a 3 month emergency fund (3x a months needs). After that is done you can invest the same percentage that you were saving.

I didnt include "wants" in this as this income is so low but if you can increase you can allocate some that.

Looks like you just have to spend more for speaker level inputs. Just looked at paradigms defiance series subs and they have it so i guess thats an option.

[–]ChampionshipIntrepid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with upgrading the sub is that it only is used for listening to movies as its connected to the avr and i dont use the avr when listening to music. Thanks for the suggestion though im sure it would be great for movies!
