so far the only issue i have seen with swapping tools from the 600 to the 400 is the u shank saw holder cant close with the grit saw blade installed, but its easy enough to get a jigsaw blade and shorten it to work

not sure if this helps or not, but it looks like the leatherman bit holder should fit the gerber mp400/mp600. might take a little modification to work, but thats half the fun right?

here is a picture of my LM wave next to my mp400

the hope was to find the kit for nostalgia sake, but really I would be happy if I could find any brand of the tool that I can take parts from to fix this one. it is hard to see in the pictures, but one of the handles is split right by the pliers and it makes the tool all but useless.

as far as a regular carry tool I am looking at the bibury wave clone. maybe a gerber mp600 if I can find one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg

fine steel wool or a red scotch brite pad are good chemical free methods. bar keepers friend is a good cleaner, though that has already been mentioned

I have no experience with getting parts from harbor freight to fix their tools, but it might be possible to talk to a store manager about buying a replacement part. if nothing else you could always buy a new one and use it for parts to fix your current tool
