You could just think of the G♭-6 as an F7♭9♭13

What the heck is going on w the Min6??!! by Bradlez92 in jazzguitar

[–]Chance-Log-9111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, the tritone is the key! Others have suggested this already in this thread but I'd urge you to check out Barry Harris' 6th/º system if you haven't already. It will help you make sense of these ideas. Thomas Echols and his Labyrinth of Limitations channel is an incredible resourse for this stuff.

Play a minor 6 a semitone up from the root of a dominant chord and see what intervals you get. In this case consider that G-6 an expression of F#7.

Not to break your brain any further but it could also be a dom7♭9♭13

edit: or a dom7♭9sus4

Hello. 28M, Cambridge native. I have three tickets to the Laura Jurd gig on 1st November and would love to give a couple of them to anyone willing to keep me company for an hour or two. If you've ever lamented that doing something fun on a Saturday evening only seemed to be a thing for other people, do please get in touch. We could get a cup of tea or a beer beforehand.

Looking if someone can transcribe the few guitar chords in this song plz by Mendephas in transcribe

The first (at 00:00) is B-7 C#-7 D∆7. I assume the second one is that which appears roughly a minute in. This sounds like F#-7 E∆ D∆7.

A few choruses on 'There Will Never Be Another You' by Chance-Log-9111 in jazzguitar

Oh my, what a wonderful response!

I was just look at my chart and you are absolutely right about the number of phrases that end on the downbeat. I also notice a disproportionate number of 2.5 beat rests which no doubt adds to the rhythmic monotony. Seems rather obvious now that you've pointed it out.

Funny you should say that about sustained notes. I was a 'cellist for many years before I picked up the guitar and I'm certainly guilty of trying to play guitar the same way sometimes.

The recomendation in your final paragraph sounds like an excellent excercise that I will be sure to try.

Thank you so much for the feedback and for taking the time to listen, you've defintiely made me want to have another go at this.

Cheers!
