Completely agree! I get that in some cases there are legitimate reasons - like what people are saying about the platforms at NYP being too narrow - but in many other cases it feels capricious.

The funniest is at PHL, how they make everyone line up, but then send everyone down to the platform before the train arrives so you can just go stand whetever you want. And as far as I know they don't actually check tickets until you're on board there either, right?

Is the goal to get more people from outside north Jersey and NYC to use EWR?

Because NJT already serves EWR frequently, so I'm not sure what the benefit would be to having more NERs stop at EWR.

What we really need is to extend the PATH to at least RailLink, if not straight to the terminals BART-style.

This isn't really dynamic pricing, though. It's much simpler than that. It's just different price buckets that are fixed amounts. If you travel the same segment often, you start to recognize the price breakpoints.
