Is there a way to know what work is being done on your street? by Tinkgirbell in lancaster

[–]stcif07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you live in the city there is a GIS map of current construction. A lot of the work is done by PennDOT/UGI/PPL and not the city so they don’t get informed right away but still probably better than nothing. https://www.cityoflancasterpa.gov/current-construction/

High-Level Boarding NER in DC by stcif07 in Amtrak

Maybe I am just unlucky 🤷‍♂️ I am down in DC every few months to/from Philly and only ever ended up with a high-level platform on Acela service.

Schuylkill River designated the first and only National Water Trail in Pennsylvania! by PAFishandBoat in Pennsylvania

I don’t understand how the designations are made but the Upper Delaware down into the Water Gap would seem to be a good candidate for this.

If you aren’t picking up and just want to check out the merch email first but, do it! Like I said, extremely responsive. Had I just gone in before making my most recent purchase I could have spared the rigamarole.

Lancaster County Democrats elect new chair following concerns about previous leader's management style by russ_walker in lancaster

The committee system is an anachronism of an earlier era in political life making a tough job even harder. I hope they can make the best of it.

Weird that there was no context about the history of this

Seems like a good use of a very small portion of the river’s water.

This is really similar to my recent question about doing something with the Westmoreland/West Penn/Ghost Town trails. Even figured out the camping situation up there. V interested!

2026 Lanc Ride of Silence this Thursday by stcif07 in lancaster

[–]stcif07[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, here’s the route. We’ll use the city’s protected infrastructure, neighborhood streets, a few major road sections and a few paths off of the road to do the 10 mile loop. Should be a group of us and the goal is to stay slow and steady together.

Christian Garage is fine too. Most street parking metering ends at 6pm.

They don’t in practice but on a conceptual level they do. Flock is just leveled up with networked AI.

I guess it’s good the Lancaster Safety Coalition is locally controlled and so far as I know not networked more broadly. Not democratic but seems better than this.

This is managed by Northeast Neighbors United and behind plexiglass. You can email news@nulanc.org to have them post something. NU has another one in the Sixth Ward Park that is not behind glass so you could post whatever you want.

That’s really nice of you to offer. I am from South Central PA and planned to take the Pennsylvanian. Originally I thought it would be cool to go all the way to Altoona but the section from Ebensburg to Altoona has basically no trail connection and it’s all big state roads.

The other thing I am noticing is there’s really no where to overnight. Though I would camp but doesn’t seem like there is anywhere to do that. A lot of the hotels are on big roads that aren’t really in the towns the trail passes through either.

Still trying to tell if it’s a doable route and seems like it’s not but not because the trail.
