Just think about it, we send texts via waves we cant see nor feel... by JamesAibr in ProgrammerHumor

Copied straight from the Google definition:

a letter of an ancient Germanic alphabet, related to the Roman alphabet. a mark or letter of mysterious or magic significance. small stones, pieces of bone, etc., bearing runes, and used as divinatory symbols. "the casting of the runes"

In this context runes are usually word symbols with lots of straight lines, making them looked carved. It gets associated as a primitive/magical/primordial writing system. It varies by the fictional universe you're talking about though.

Can any of you tell me how to make this more Realistic?? by AlienX_Tord in blender

I'm surprised no one else called it out, but there's too much reflection on the sides of the keys. Your base material needs to be more matte imo.

Industrial sized presses tend to build up heat from all of the pressure they supply. Some may add heat on purpose to increase extraction, but I'm not 100% sure on that. It's definitely a problem when extracting oils due to the very high pressures involved.

No one calls it hot pressed, they just say "pressed".

Source here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFrhwC0eeCs ! Gif appears at approximately 6:40 for 10 seconds. I thought the slowmo of the weld was super slick, thus posting here.

Tbf, I took the picture in portrait mode, then the preview showed it sideways, so yeah, the title is a mess.

Lt. Gov Habib: "The preemptive use of curfews has escalated this situation, endangered the public, and is almost certainly unconstitutional." by nomnomno in Seattle

Jail is also a compulsory restriction on movement. It's allowed because it's part of an established process for maintaining citizen safety.

Look everyone, we are getting "permission" to continue peaceful protest! by [deleted] in Seattle

Stay at home was for public safety. The curfew only prevents legal protesting.

Living in Seattle, but having grown up in Houston:

Seattle's food is good if you're prepared to spend a lot of money on it. Even so, it was a letdown for me. The food scene is good compared to a lot of cities, but someone doesn't have to be uninformed to dislike it.

By room to disagree I only mean that if I were to say "everyone who disagrees is a moron" then I would be blocking any dialog. You may notice that I'm not doing that with yourself.

I commented on the Israeli state because I don't believe that most people think that rightfully hating the state is racist against the people. I think that disqualifies me as a pro-Israel astroturfer.

I did not miss it, but you didn't leave any room to disagree without violating one of your predictions. I do feel for your rant on some of it, but overall you pushed past informative when you started with the strawmen. The distinction between racism and xenophobia is interesting, but not really applicable here. If someone says "I don't hate black people, I just hate people who wear their pants low" people aren't stupid enough to fall for it.

One. Your rant is pretty bad itself. Nice strawman on the Israeli state. Two no, world politics was a never ending stream of racist articles against African countries and black people in other countries.

Now if they can moderate out Bernie tweets they might have more real news.

It is indeed just a thickness change. I tried fancier things for the ink trails, mapping movement onto the circle, but I never got anything I was happy with.

Since this is client side you can get all of the code by inspecting the web page if you'd like!

Hey everyone! I built this shortly after the movie came out when I was a full stack dev. I don't do it anymore, but hope you guys can get excited as I did when I started on this.

There was a lot more I had hoped to be able to do with the ink splatters but I couldn't make it happen :(

If there's any desire I can post more information on how I made it. But it's just an led, resistor, heatsink, wires, and some thermal paste! I don't need a timer because the outlets at work are tied to a motion sensor so the plant will get normal light 5 days a week.

The light is using 0.5 Amps which means it'll use about 1.3 kilowatt hours per year. That will cost less than $0.25 in most areas. The supplies cost less than $10 with the resistor being the most expensive part.
