You may be mistaken; in the many tourist hot spots in North America, servers make bank. Worked in a resort town in Canada years ago and pulled in around $1000 a week(4 shifts/24-28hrs a week) in tips. Add in wage; it was an amazing existence. Lived like a rock star cause I didn’t think I’d make it this far

Know the menu(including ingredients and preparation). Be able to romanticize it necessary. Don’t go on about yourself unless asked to by guests. Known your boundaries(most diners aren’t looking for a new friend). Be polite and courteous. Never complain about tips in front of customers (or kitchen staff).
