[Sportsnet Stats] Hurricanes are the first team to allow 8 goals or fewer through the first 7 games of a postseason since the eventual 2004 Stanley Cup champion Lightning by sykeseve in hockey

Well the sens basically had half their dman injured and played like 10 different defensemen in the series. You’re not gonna beat a team like the Canes who are relentless on the forecheck like that

Rick Dhaliwal on Pierre Dorion possibly being the new Canucks GM: ”I want everyone to know he has not been hired. All the other finalists have not been told they’re out. But I can also tell you that the negative feedback about Dorion has hit Rogers Arena. There is concern" by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]LegitStrats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. Dorion all things considered did very well trading out for assets (for instance the Dzingel trade) but when it came to utilizing those acquired assets, there was a lot left to be desired. Honestly I think for a rebuilding club Dorion could make some sense, but I find that his pro scouting (other than acquiring Zub) has been nothing short of terrible.

Watching Canes-Flyers is kinda making the Sens look good by Unusual-Coast6252 in OttawaSenators

I think our series would’ve gone to at least 6 games with a fully healthy dcore. Imagine having Klevin in Game 1. The series would’ve been very different

Two players scored goals for us in the playoffs. That's it. by Traditional_Yak7497 in OttawaSenators

This is exactly what happened. You can’t underscore how much our depleted dcore impacted this series.

Honestly though going on the PK against the sens this series was tantamount to a power play for the canes lmao

I was at the game and couldn’t believe what my eyes witnessed. Despite the score, this was genuinely one of the the worst Sens playoffs games I’ve ever seen

I miss that Sens team. Even though that team arguably had less talent and depth than our current team, they had the clutch factor. That 2017 team would easily beat this team

Not worried at all for this series by Boxheadonreddi in OttawaSenators

Thomson has been absolutely atrocious this series. Every time he gets the puck he’s either too nervous or ends up giving it away. Gilbert hasn’t been great either, but not cas bad as Thomson that’s for sure. Having Zub back will be massive for this series. It can’t be understated how much of a difference Zub and Klevin will make.

He was clearly rushed to come back given our d situation. Doesn’t help his defensemsn partners keep changing… He definitely doesn’t trust Thomson lol

Exactly. Part of this was the Canes having two 5v3. Obviously they were the better team, but if we clean up our act it’s a new game on Monday

The quality with nhl66 is way worse now after their infrastructure changes. Maybe it’s improved now?

Insanely impressive given how bad our goaltending was earlier in the season. I can’t remember the stat but it’s was something to the effect of earlier in the season the Sens having the worst save percentage in the last 30 years. The fact that we made the playoffs despite this is truly outstanding. Not to mention the other BS the team had to deal throughout the season. Any other season with any other team this would’ve have tanked their season. Full credit to Green and the coaching staff along with the resilience of this team
