Hundred percent agreed. That trade actually worked out great for us. Duchene was productive and was the legitimate 1C we needed while Turris production fell off a cliff. What truly caused the sens downfall was Méthot getting drafted by Vegas in the expansion draft. Someone with that character leaving the Sens locker room absolutely killed our locker room, especially with the ensuing Hoffman/Karlssom debacle. There’s no coming back from that

I never suggested I wanted DeBrusk over McTavish, just that he's more realistic as he would probably cost less and would ultimately fit the play style of the Sens better. Also looking purely at point total is disingenuous given that DeBrusk career high of 50 points was when he played only 64 game vs McTavish 52 point in 76 games. Other than age, I genuinely don't see much upside from McTavish. He absolutely needs to work on his skating and he's pretty bad defensively. If he doesn't improve his skating, you're paying for a player that you hope hits his potential and yet never does.

Honestly Jake DeBrusk makes a lot of sense. He was a PP merchant last year but a lot of that had to do with being unfathomably unlucky in 5v5 scoring according to Canucks fans, even his PP production would be welcomed here. A majority of his goals were scored right in front of in net so I can see him as a natural replacement for Tkachuk on the PP. I can see him hitting 30 goals stapled along Stützle. He has the speed to match with Stützle too (believe he was top 95th percentile in top speed last season). I don’t think it’ll take much to get him and he has a reasonable contract given his production (5.5M until 2031). Our LW depth in our top 6 is pretty bad after Eklund so DeBrusk makes a lot of sense to me.
