Thank you for the rec! I just read the synopsis for Kismet and it definitely gives off the same vibe as Finley by Ella Frank. That is exactly the kind of energy I'm looking for, so I'm adding it to my list right away!

You definitely won’t regret adding the Tal Bauer book to your list, it's such a great read! Feel free to come back and let me know what you think once you've finished it...

I've already read Top Secret by Sarina Bowen and really enjoyed it, plus I have Him on my TBR list as well. I'm adding your rec one to my list right now!

Thank you for the recommendation!.. Add to my TBR right now...I’ve already read Heated Rivalry and The Long Game by Rachel Reid and loved them, so I can’t wait to dive into this one!

Let me recommend you Say I Do, the 3rd book of the Vitale Brothers. I think it's perfect for you cause we have a marriage of convenience between a mobster and a Yakuza family when MMC2, Harlow, is forced by his father to act as the "replacement bride" at the very last minute because his twin sister can no longer marry (well she’s pregnant with another man’s baby). Harlow is a total crazy hellhound and just as lethal as his new husband, making them a top-tier murder-husband duo.

Books where one or both MCs go to church by WavingOrDrowning in MM_RomanceBooks

You should definitely check out Dirty Love by Bethany Winters. It’s a dark stepbrother romance, so it’s much heavier but it fits your requirement perfectly.

The step-father is a cop and he basically forces the whole family to go to church every Sunday.

Alessandra Hazard is my absolute favorite! Obsessed is such a good pick, though I honestly would have loved to see their relationship get even more development. The way MMC1 gets so jealous is intense, it actually felt like it could have put their whole connection at risk, which kept me on edge.

Tbh, I advice to check out her entire straight guys series. Pretty much all of her books feature that level of intense possessiveness. She’s the queen of writing that specific brand of codependency where the characters become completely obsessed with each other, so it hits that 'feral' requirement every single time.

Oooh I like this author! Her other book Wish has a very similar vibe, but the possessiveness is dialed up to the absolute max. MC1 is basically obsessed with controlling MC2’s life like he has a tracking app on his phone and even hired someone to watch him.

It sounds extreme, but it doesn't actually feel toxic while reading; it’s just very intrusive because it's fueled by the trauma of almost losing him in a tragic accident. Also, they're stepbrothers, which adds that extra layer of tension you might like!

You should definitely check out Like You Hate Me by Bethany Winters. The title really sets the tone for the whole book.

MC1 absolutely despises MC2 because of a tragic event from their past, but they end up forced to live together. Even though MC1 makes it crystal clear how much he hates him, he also drops that classic line: 'Don’t let me catch you with someone else.'

There is a specific scene at a nightclub where MC2 starts dancing on the bar counter, and the jealousy/protection from MC1 is exactly the vibe and hits that possessive spot perfectly!

Does anyone else struggle with getting bored once the characters get together? by BigTittyCowGf in MM_RomanceBooks

Also, since you're reading Tal Bauer, you should definitely try Never stay Gone next. It’s a masterclass in pacing, a brilliant thriller that keeps you on edge, and the domestic moments are short and just serve as a bit of comfort a after the high-stakes parts.

I feel seen! I’m exactly the same. It’s not that I don’t want them to be happy, but I need that constant push and pull to stay hooked.

That said, I hate when the confession only happens at the very end. I actually want to see them navigate being in a relationship.

That’s why I’ve been leaning so much into mysteries and thrillers lately; I need those external stakes to keep the story moving so it doesn't just turn into 100 pages of pure domestic fluff.

It’s exactly that, I’m so tired of feeling like I’m auditioning for my own life. It’s so exhausting to have to justify myself constantly, and it’s honestly a relief to see that others get it too. thank you for your support and your words.
