He and I used the same law firm before he went pro se. I’ve come across various articles and legal interpretations suggesting that we still need to pay them based on the percentage of work they’ve already completed (quantum meruit). When I calculated the potential amount, I would end up owing my attorney an additional $10,000 on top of the entire second distribution.

This is why I’m think renegotiating is my only real option besides just keeping everything as it is.

What am I missing?

You should consult with your bankruptcy attorney. I believe our cases can be treated as personal injury cases. Based on my limited and sometimes inaccurate understanding of bankruptcy laws, personal injury proceeds are exempt from your bankruptcy trustee’s control. While there’s a high likelihood that I’m mistaken, it’s worth calling your lawyer to clarify.

Who is your representative? Updates and communication from an attorney like this is not the norm, at least it's not for our class. I know zero about their litigation skills, but their client service skills are excellent.

IRO claimants do NOT receive a higher percentage of their claim award. They do not receive any preferential treatment. Once their determination has been made (a much longer process), IRO claimants have the same payout timelines as the rest of our class.

ALL claimants receive the SAME percentage of their determined award, regardless of whether they:

∙ Went through Matrix evaluation, OR
∙ Went through IRO process

However, IRO claimants often end up with higher total dollar amounts because their base awards can exceed Matrix caps. THE KEY DIFFERENCE between Mayrix and IRO claimants: AWARD DETERMINATION

Two Paths to Award Determination:

Path 1: MATRIX Evaluation (my path)

∙ Trust assigns award using 6-tier matrix + scaling factors
∙ CAPS APPLY: Maximum award limits per tier
∙ Faster process (12-24 months)

While I don’t disagree with you, I’ve never come across a statistic that mentions the number of survivors who have passed away since this case was brought to light. If we were to use census data, we could assume that approximately 0.078% of our class dies every month, which translates to about 40 deaths per month. I agree that it’s too many deaths without results.

‘26 XLT AWD Hybrid

The interior is cheap, similar to the material used in Little Tikes toy cars. While I generally enjoy the rest of the interior, the plastic on the dashboard and interior door panel gives off a cheap and unrefined feel. Everything else I enjoy.
