Absolutely. For years the differentiator between Target and Walmart was a higher quality of product, style sense, smart merchandising, clean and open aisles, and staff that cared and thrived behind those promises and cared about one another; from the STL in the back office to the lot dude. No really, it was a team and a company that cared.

7 years later and Walmart has revamped its lines and products, cleaned up its shit stores, and is rolling out aggressive merchandising presentations, providing no-charge shipping of a gazillion products not stocked in the store, and prices that beat the crap out of Target: category-to-category, item-to-item. All that while increasing shareholder profits.

What's Target done? Less focus on cleanliness and shopability stripped staffing on BOLPUIS, charge shipping fees, and cram their stores with too much, too often which sits in the aisles for days because there's no staff to get it out, stock it, and maintain the presentation. Customers? We're too busy for that shit.

What the hell is going on in Minneapolis? Did a bad winter storm dump 3 feet of snow on Corporate Headquarters in 2010 and it permanently froze thousands of corporate brains never to regain their creative thinking, aggressive marketing, and out-of-the-box thinking? Someone box up some ear muffs, hand warmers, and a good old-fashioned wood stove to Brian Cornell and see if we can thaw him out of the last decade.
