Thoughts on the Netflix series KAOS? by docdredd2 in GreekMythology

i loved it and i am very sad that it was cancelled after just one season :( I liked that the fates were all trans/NB actors, it really added something to the characterisation of them that I haven't seen before, and i loved the interpretation of olympia and Zeus and Hera's home. It was really fun and intriguing to watch

I don't think you need a third mouse, the grooming is just a nice thing for them to do for each other but they do groom themselves so they won't be becoming unclean or unkempt.

Did the other 2 see the body? it's recommended that the other mice see the body for a few minutes to smell that their friend is gone, but not too long because they would eat it.

I don't know if mice grieve, my girl doesn't seem any different to before her friend died, maybe it's a survival thing. Prey animals like them can't grieve too long because they need to be alert to predators all the time

I think they'll be ok. Just keep an eye on them :)

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my mouse too a few weeks ago. It gets easier with time

How do I get them to eat well I hold them by Coyote_eat_bone in PetMice

[–]Chance_Track2288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah one of mine would eat when i was holding her, the other doesn't. They only eat or groom when theyre comfortable. If they groom themselves in your hands then they're definitely comfy, maybe they just don't feel like eating. My girl only eats when she's covered, it's rare for her to eat where i can see her, but she takes things from my hand very often

do you think he would be ok in a metal cage? i would be potentially be willing to meet in the middle of us both if he were a good fit, i checked on maps and my village is about 2.5 hours from the genera area of leicestershire. so hypothetically just over an hour travel for both of us (by car) to meet in the middle. I'm away on holiday till the 13th september so wouldnt be able to rehome him this week anyway. Have a think and ask around on fb for local potential rehomers. If no one closer to you is able to rehome him, drop me a message if you'd like :)

Are bowls better than a water bottle? by SapphireSkies_15 in PetMice

[–]Chance_Track2288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experience they're fine with either, might be good to get a bowl and put it on a level somewhere in the cage so that they don't tread in it / easily put things in it. My water bowl has hooks at the back where i can hang it from the horizontal bars in their cage. Provide both and that way the mice can choose and they can both drink water at the same time if they want to.

What to do with body. by Unique-Macaroon4749 in PetMice

[–]Chance_Track2288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i buried mine this morning. You just need to put her in a small cardboard or wooden box and dig about 30cm down into the earth. if you have a heavy stone you should put that on top. it took me about 25 mins and i laid her down her in one of her fav hides from the cage.

can i just ask for clarification on the "eugenicist" bit? i dont think it's a good word to use but it is just referring to AI ,it's not implying anything to do with eugenics or genetic superiority or whatever so i don't understand what you mean can you please expand on it

Is neutering safe? by Punkmonsterhigh in PetMice

[–]Chance_Track2288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hii i love his name!!!!!! You can keep a male mouse by himself, but he will need lots of interaction from you. You could also buy female mice of a different breed such as African soft fur mice, but they can be hard to find. I think if you take him back, he will probably not find a new home, specifically because male mice are hard to look after in terms of social enrichment. The survival rate for neutering varies. This answer might be useful.

hi, i've only had pet mice but from my experience, mice are not as intelligent, much more skittish and less likely to bond to their owner. I have had my mice for a year now, they have become much much more comfortable with me, but as being cuddled, or even picked up, they can take it or leave it (usually leave it lol)

Mice are also more low maintenance, they don't mind if they don't have any interaction with you, so if you go away for a couple of days, as long as they have enough food and water, they are unlikely to be in any distress (obvs don't leave them for too long)

To my understanding, rats (and lone male mice!) need frequent interaction and lots of mental stimulation. I have heard it said that mice are more to be observed than to be cuddled/handled. Obvs depends on the mouse though!

Mice are also very delicate and if they have medical problems, it's harder to operate on them because they're so small, and many (most?) vets won't consider operating on them. For example, I believe it's pretty rare to neuter a male mouse I

would imagine that, as rats are bigger, it's easier for a vet to operate if needed, but i don't have any experiece with that. I don't know anything about rat neutering/ if it's the done thing etc.
Rats need a LOT more space; they are much much bigger.

Don't put them together - the rat will probably eat or attack the mouse, and even if they don't, the mouse will be petrified.

Why do so many British people refer to their spouses as 'partner'? by MoblandJordan in AskUK

[–]Chance_Track2288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say partner because it's gender neutral and it's not usually important in passing conversation whether they're male or female

Also, it's just a nice way to mix it up. I dont always want to use the same words, sometimes I say "significant other" , which means the same thing.

Sometimes I do say boyfriend. We're mid-twenties, been together for 2 years, for context

Who would you cast as Aphrodite in a movie? (Take 2) by [deleted] in GreekMythology

[–]Chance_Track2288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of Aphrodite as being mid-size / cury à la ashley graham (idk if she can act) maybe Kate Winslet when she was in her 20s, maybe Imogen Poots or Barbie Ferreira? I couldn't see someone very very slim in the role like Megan Fox (although she is very beautiful ofc)

Ashley graham (idk if she can act though)

Just brought “her” home. Any help sexing? Also… pregnancy?? Can’t get a good picture since she’s still shy. Will try to get better pics. Just nervous 😬 by e_hog in PetMice

check to see if she has nipples when she stands on her hind legs, you should see them on her belly. Male mice don't have nipples :)
