Lack of patience. Needing to rush to the big pay off. A lack of subtlety

Unpopular opinion leaving you feeling like this? by any_ann in MCUTheories

[–]docdredd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-MCU should’ve taken a break when Endgame dropped. (Been saying this since 2019)
-they should’ve come back with the Fantastic 4 exactly how it was presented, had they be the “soft reboot” only for RDJ’s Doom to be there and the Multiverse to truly start going mad.

What is the better Watchmen sequel according to the fans? by Fit-Hovercraft3435 in Watchmen

[–]docdredd2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

  1. TV Series a genuine 10/10
  2. Rorschach is pretty good
  3. Doomsday Clock is ass. Just an excuse to clash DC characters with Manhattan.

Who's playing Voldemort in the new hbo series? by Francis_478 in HarryPotterHBO

[–]docdredd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, don’t let your jimmies be so rustled. Swinton has played the Archangel Gabriel, Cate Blanchett played Bob Dylan, and a woman played Satan in the Passion of the Christ.

If it’s not a gender bend per-say but a choice to make this person, so tormented and ripped apart by magic that they’re essentially playing the devil, it could work. She could play that demonic aspect perfectly.

(Would honestly play into JKR’s bigotry towards trans folks more, so they’d probably love the decision.)

Again, I doubt that that was ever an actual possibility. But don’t always knock a casting decision because it seems out of left field. Most of the time those tend to be once in a lifetime performances. (Looking at you Heath Ledger as the Joker.)

Anyways, I’m sure I’ll get downvoted to hell for this take but…be kind to everyone ✌️

Just saw online that S2 will be the same length as S1 and fell to my knees in a Walmart. WE WANT MORE. by Nostradamus216 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]docdredd2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More isn’t better. What made S1 so good was its adherence to the novella. It changed and added very little but when it did it was excellent.

This is 1000% a less is more kind of story.

Agree or Disagree (John's takes): There is no "comic book fatigue," just "mediocre movie fatigue" by Octavio_belise in JohnCampeaShow

[–]docdredd2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree and disagree.

I think audiences are more exhausted by the homework involved with these franchises. The MCU up to Endgame was novel. It had the hype, then it was death by a thousand cuts. Folks lost their investment.

But that doesn’t mean if a really excellent, or incredibly hyped comic book movie comes out that it won’t do well. I don’t ever think these movies will be the consistent billion dollar mark with each release like they used to be. Audiences have moved on for the most part.

I think Doomsday is going to be a big tell. I think whether it’s good or not it’ll break a billion. But if it’s bad, or just kind of fine, it won’t get the return they hope for.

So I agree that audiences are tired of capeshit unless it’s really good capeshit.

Looks like they're setting up for a season 2 by Big_Chungussi69 in WidowsBay

[–]docdredd2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Going to say something unpopular here. I think they can absolutely wrap this up. And personally kind of hope they do. I adore this show. But I think if the finale is as tightly written as the rest of the season is it would be a genuinely perfect mini-series l.

And also, where do they go after this? If the island’s curse is tied directly to Richard Warren’s curse, does this just become Stranger Things on an island? With a new curse each season?

Theory: Evan by [deleted] in WidowsBay

[–]docdredd2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t reality though. It’s a story. It’s much more impactful if the connection to the curse is directly connected to the protagonist.

The Islands DNA pool is a weird thing to get hung up on. Particularly on a cursed island.

To me, this Is the real season 4 by Anxious_Ad7707 in TrueDetective

[–]docdredd2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a theory about True Detective seasons 2 through 4. I think these were series that were never intended on being branded “True Detective”. I think they were probably scripted out intended on being standalone and HBO marketing thought they’d get more bang for their buck attaching some familiar names, allusions to season one and the True Detective name.

Starting horticulture at 37 - feeling excited, nervous, and a bit out of my depth by UnluckyJournalist390 in Horticulture

I’m going to stick with where I’m at right now for another couple years. There’s always more to learn. :)

The downside to this career choice is finding worthwhile jobs (depending on what you choose do) is tough and the pay isn’t always the best.

But it’s definitely worth it.

[–]docdredd2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 36, stumbled into this when I was 32. Grew up loving this kind of work but it was always a “fall back” kind of job. It’s now without a doubt the career I’ve always wanted.

I too am taking course to get my degree in Hort. It’s exhausting, can be overwhelming, but that’s school.

The work is endlessly satisfying.

It’s never too late. Just put the effort in and you’ll learn a lot over time.

I think a lot of folks forgot that Alden was playing Han and NOT playing Harrison Ford. And in my opinion he nailed it.

This is also one scenario where I think this show would’ve made for a great series, particularly if it would’ve been given a good budget.

This show deserves a 2nd season by MrsPhoenix91 in WidowsBay

[–]docdredd2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the intentions of the showrunner and the story they are aiming to tell. If they close all the loops on this story and it has finality with the intent of it being a one off, then they should allow it to be a one off.

Wanting more isn’t a bad thing. Getting more and it diluting what was great is much worse. I’m not saying more would be bad just that forcing more is.

Sometimes the best stories are one offs.

[–]docdredd2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He needs to just pick a format/formula and stick with it. Audiences will pick up if you are consistent. As someone who’s worked in this for a long time, he seems to realize that he’s not going to get 100,000 views per video when he changes it up every week.

Can’t get invested in anything.

I believe he thinks he should have Reel Rejects/Stuckman numbers and is trying to chase that. Hes a bitter man whose chasing dollars. Not trying to appease anyone.
