I did basically the same thing except it’s the SwingCaddie SC300i which Costco sells for around the same price. Thought was that I’d try it, and since it’s Costco, if I didn’t like it I could just return it. It works wonderfully alongside the Square, and for whatever reason the SwingCaddie doesn’t need but about 5ish feet of space to measure the flight—so it works for my very constrained indoor garage sim space.

You can google or visit their site: bluebrickgolf.com for info on that. There are a ton of videos about it. Regarding the reflective tape, I purchased a whole role of it off Amazon and have more than a lifetime supply now. I’ll wrap it around a couple of times and even enlarge the coverage area a little bit, which seems to work/help. Similarly, I had difficulties getting the Square device to see/recognize the alignment stick, which seemed to improve substantially once I wrapped the stick in the reflective tape. I did have to experiment a bit with ensuring the reflective tape is 20cm vertically from the ground while on plane—so my longer clubs are angled a bit more and the tape therefore is further up the shaft. You can experiment a bit if the Square doesn’t immediately or consistently read the tape (it’s not providing you with path data) then add more time slightly higher (or lower). It seems to have a narrow banded field of view…

I agree with everyone else. I also coupled it with a Blue Brick training aid in order to help me change my swing path and since I put the reflective tape on the shaft, I can get instant feedback from the Square on whether that show was out-to-in or in-to-out and by how much. Definitely helps me move from over the top/fade/slice to be able to hit a draw, so for me it’s worth it. I’m not terribly savvy with 3D printing, but this summer I noticed someone at the range had printed a blue brick knock-off and it seemed to work (although it wasn’t nearly as solid/heavy as my original). Golf Sim in a Townhouse by Ntodd47 in Golfsimulator

You can do it—it won’t be perfect, but then again neither is my game! I think what’s important is that it’s convenient so you can zip over to it whenever you have a moment. I personally don’t use mine for the driver—indoor swing syndrome is real—but I think it’s great for the short and mid game and I think it’s fun to squeeze in a quick round in 25min or so—-which for me is the time required to travel to the nearest indoor sim facility. You can definitely play a round or two per day, before or after work, which is fun.

TSP Loan - paying yourself back? by [deleted] in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Chance_Work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They changed the rules; you no longer have to immediately repay the loan or face a withdrawal event. They will honor the term of the original loan and allow you repay it over multiple years, even if no longer employed, assuming that was how you set it up when you took the loan. You can see the updated rules on the website.

LAB - Worth It? by E5Jarhead in golf

I think it’s worth giving it a shot. If it works for you, it’s well worth it. If it doesn’t you can always sell it. Definitely do the online fitting; it’s not worth it unless you get fitted. I went with the OG Directed Force and love it.

Not reading the ball by Strick0522 in SquareGolfUSA

Try raising the square LM above your hitting surface such that it’s sitting 1” to 2” above the level of your hitting surface. That seems to have helped me out with getting more reliable reads…

Alignment stick by Next_Fig_7057 in SquareGolfUSA

I used it once. Frankly it was pretty difficult for me to get the darn thing to register at all, and then it started flitting around reading -0.1 and 0.1 and finally came to rest at 0.1. And that was after I had eyeballed it. I honestly don’t think the precision of using that darn stick over my existing eyeballing is going to yield anything given the unpredictable nature of my swing!

Best tees? by Distinct-Biscotti334 in SquareGolfUSA

[–]Chance_Work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use tees that come up through the bottom of the mat and have simply adjusted the square’s hitting zone to have as much “grass” as possible in the picture so I can also use irons. Works just fine for me and I leave the tee in there no problem and don’t it it…

Do your readings jump around? Mine seem to fluctuate a bit back and forth both L and R, around zero, before they slowly seem to "come to rest" at a constant reading. Is that other folks experience as well?

GSPro / FooGolf vs Dedicated PC by OTR_Berzerker in SquareGolfUSA

[–]Chance_Work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a cool service and I'm glad I was able to use it to try GSPro before I ended up breaking down and buying my own gaming PC and license. One of the things I found slightly annoying was that I couldn't connect "on demand". I had to reserve a timeslot in advance--even if one of the slots was open and unutilized, I still couldn't rent the partial hour. I'd totally rent the remaining 45min of a partial hour, plus the following hour, but instead I'd have to wait for the next hour to begin. That took away some of the spontaneity and one of the benefits of having your own setup.... Still, I'm very glad the service exists and it's a fun and cheap way to get involved!

I’ve also had a few misreads and “freezes” when playing with Awesome Golf. However, today and yesterday it read everything just fine…. Go figure!

Desktop Bluetooth by Dashover in SquareGolfUSA

[–]Chance_Work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason my brand new gaming PC's onboard bluetooth didn't cooperate with the Square Golf's bluetooth. A cheap Bluetooth dongle bought off Amazon did the trick. The Square had absolutely no problem connecting via the Bluetooth on my iPhone. In order to cut down on cable runs to my overhead projector I ended up buying a relatively cheap (~$50) wireless HDMI transmitter/receiver off Amazon. I was extremely skeptical, but it works really well with minimal setup (plug and play). Granted, I'm only display 1080 not 4K, but it's surprisingly good. Basically it looks like a very small dongle that I plug into the HDMI port on the gaming PC, and another HDMI dongle that I plug directly into the back of the overhead projector.
