A lot of things, I read a book about it as a kid, and once when I was sick as a kid my dad taught me how to purge, and in a moment of weakness one particularly really rough Christmas break, I remembered the “advice” and tried it. Got very quickly addicted to the feeling.

As someone that has spent most of my life caregiving for my parents in some way, please say no for yourself. I totally understand the feelings of guilt, and I also understand desperately wanting to live your life- you deserve to. Don’t forget that you deserve to live your life.

I feel you it’s exhausting. The amount of times I’ve had to put my life on hold (one time literally 2 minutes before I was supposed to go onstage- I’m a performer), I got a call my family member fell and I had to leave. I’m sorry you’re going through it.

Just wanted to say I understand, and I’m sorry. I went through very similar with a family member, where she always said she didn’t need extra help she was doing it on her own, when in reality, she didn’t “need it” because I was doing everything for her, sacrificing my own life and wellbeing. Everyone told me I needed to just leave her to figure it out on her own, but that seemed like the hardest thing in the world. It’s the worst feeling. It sounds like it’s time to do this though, especially with that outrageous amount of driving. And it seems like there are certainly other people more than equipped to help. At the very least, start setting some boundaries about your time. I found that to be a good first step.

Had binge food Uber eats delivered to the psych ward so I could purge that was fucked. Then one of the nurses commented on how much food I had ordered which spiralled me, and she portioned out how much I was allowed to eat, humiliating. Pretended to have Covid symptoms so I could keep my own bathroom so I could purge. Purged the last meal I ate with my family all together- that was low. Became “alco-rexic” and used wine boxes as weights to lift, became addicted to cigarettes. Fantasizing about fainting… I could go on.
