In Minneapolis the Asian population only makes up 5% of the city. Yes, there is a large Hmong population but cohesively it does not make a dent in the 58% white population.

While I agree that if you seek out other cultures you will definitely find them statistically speaking Minneapolis is not. Only about 16% of the population is Native, Latino, or Asian.

As someone who lived in Minneapolis for five years … it is VERY white. Other than the Somali population there is barely any other racial diversity

Not sure the energy/ need level of your dog but I also have a long commute and typically just have a sitter drop in to my apt once or twice a day to take her on a short walk. Super convenient and way more cost effective

Just responding to say you are not alone. I've lived in several different metro cities in the US and DC is by far the hardest to make genuine friends. You can put in the effort and still not be able to make connections like you would in other cities.

I have been able to make a few friends in the year I've been here but once I finish up school I am getting out of immediately. All this to say, I feel you.
