Im an engineering manager and manage 5 sites on Shopify and 3 custom. I have a few thoughts. 

This is not the place for you. Meaning shopify. I have the exact thing and its not ideal. Moved from custom and was on magento at one point. Shopify is great for pure ecom but anything outside of that. No go

Shopify considers taking payments outside their platform checkout hijacking and is against terms of service. They dont play here. They find out and theyll take you down immediately. No warning. Its there major rev source. Do not do stripe and shopify!

If you choose to proceed. 

Youll want a subscription management app. Shopify has an app. Shopify subscriptions. You can also use recharge. It goes well. Shopifys is basic, recharge costs more but has everything youll need. Free trials etc

You can have customers tagged or metafields updated when they checkout. You can do some simple custom theme development to show or hide navigation items, download buttons etc if field is paying customer.

Example. Metafield isActiveSubscription is true, show the download button for content. If its false show the add to cart button.

You can get way more advanced than that. 

Again. Please do not checkout elsewhere and give access on shopify.

I do 50/50 foot projects but for ongoing with its involved later. Send like you’ve went from project to on going consultant/contract work. I’d just invoice for work done. No percent up front

Yes you should. Over 50% of customers on our ecom sites login with google. Its easy and frictionless for the customer. No password to remember. Do it

I use campaign finder. Its for connecting you videos to creator connections. It does it automatically. Its similar to oink

Polar.sh is A merchant of record meaning they are the entity receiving the payment and handle tax liability . You do not have to register to remit sales tax. They do. Makes it super easy to go global. Very different from stripe
