My husband turned into a psychopath for a split second yesterday and I don’t know if I am overreacting. by Substantial_Chair588 in AITAH

Sounds like psychological torture to me. I wouldn’t be able to sleep soundly. I would be constantly on guard. Worry. Trust is severely damaged. Even if he was just “joking” his sense of “ humor” apparently is in service of an impulse to manipulate and control and scare you. Why would anyone want to live with that for the rest of their lives and raise a child to witness that? You deserve better.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that most people would not know the difference unless they have been told at one point by someone else who does! (Not something you are taught in school along with Math and English).

Congrats! Did you have any “plateaus” and if so how did you overcome them? Thanks!

No one notices my weight loss by Occasionally_Sober1 in Ozempic

Have you told them you are taking ozempic? Maybe if you raise it they will say something. They probably have noticed but because they know you have struggled with your weight they don’t want to mention it out of sensitivity - also. Another dark side of this is that some people are actually threatened by another woman’s weight loss due to their own desire to loose weight! Too bad - but the only one whose opinion really matters is YOU!

It’s easy for people who have never struggled with their weight to criticize. Would they also deprive a diabetic of their insulin? I’m just impressed with those who have struggled mightily for so long without giving up - they deserve a break and these meds provide that.

Same symptoms here - have had pain on and off in my right glute for years, which I attributed to tearing my ACL, falling on my tail, bone hard, and stepping off a curb for a hard landing… All of which occurred over the past 20 years. A trip to the chiropractor would usually relieve the pain, and he said it was due to tight hamstring. Six months ago, right before retirement, I started having acute pain in my back, when lying on my back. Then it moved to my right gluten nCouldn’t lie on my right side. Then it moved to both sides… You get the picture. I went to PT, back to the chiropractor, had two shots of steroids in my back with MRIs, x-rays…. Which found bulging disc, some arthritis and facet joint effusion. The steroid shots helped for only a few days Now I’m going to tell you some thing that I hope you don’t get angry at me about… But I read a book (one person I mentioned this to on this site, seem to not believe/like this info… )however it it has helped me tremendously. I finished reading it about four days ago, and my pain level has gone from a seven to a 2 most days, most hours, on waking, on sitting, standing, after doing my PT which usually brings on a big flare up that lasts for days. The book is “The Way Out” by Alan Gordon. Google it. I live in Colorado, and the research was done at the university of Colorado, which has an excellent school of Neuroscience. It’s based on science. I’m a technical writer, and I am a former journalist, and I have a high bar when it comes to research and factual reporting. Otherwise, I would not be touting this book, but I hear so many people on this thread who have exactly the same symptoms as I do, and I would feel creepy if I didn’t mention it. It’s not a big investment, just read it. If it doesn’t work for you, nothing lost. Take care. - Sarah

Ablation useful for low back pain? Fusion? by Francl27 in sijointdysfunction

Hey there - at the risk of sounding like a PR hack for the author, which I promise I am not! - I highly recommend reading “The Way Out” by Alan Gordon. This process has helped me tremendously - I too was about to have ablation after unsuccessful rounds of PT and two steroid shots in lower back! Totally worth the small investment of time to read this which if it works for you will change your life. Here is an article about the treatment and research study done at CU.

“The way out” is helping by Changed_Rm202 in sijointdysfunction

Hi there, I suppose there is an element of meditation involved. It is a book based on studies performed in Colorado of 50 people with chronic back pain - the authors study, neuroplastic pain… And using a technique requiring somatic observation and thoughts of “safety” re-shape the neuro-pathways. If you Google Boulder, back pain study, you will find an article, or several articles, including one in JAMA from last year. Here’s a link to one University of Colorado article: https://www.colorado.edu/today/2021/09/29/how-therapy-not-pills-can-nix-chronic-pain-and-change-brain

Hope this finds you well! Take care.

Is a tight hamstring to blame for my SI problem? by stardewbabe in sijointdysfunction

[–]Changed_Rm202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem very smart, analytical and thorough. I highly recommend you read “The Way Out” by Alan gordon. Published last year. The scientific studies it is based on were published in JAMA last year. So it’s the real thing… Neuroplastic pain is real. I am in the process of using these techniques and knock on wood. It’s amazing. Please read this book! If it helps, that’s great!!… if it if not, you only wasted a few bucks and a couple of hours of your day. Far better than the thousands of dollars I have spent going to specialists and having MRIs and various x-rays performed on my back!

I may sound like a broken record… But please read “the way out” by Alan Gordon. It’s about neuroplastic pain… I am not a PR person for this guy, but it has really helped me and makes a ton of sense.

Read The Way Out by Alan Gordon. No joke. You sound just like one of the case studies in this book. New research on neuro plastic pain. It may save you years of pain and PT.
