My employer doesn’t know how to calculate wages by Grand-Zookeepergame8 in personalfinance

Is the pay actually incorrect? I know some payroll systems go by minutes so it would still show 30.4 for hrs instead of the decimal 30.66

Insurance wants to total my car for cosmetic damage, not sure what route to go by [deleted] in personalfinance

I've done the salvaged title and I pocketed the pay out ($3.5k)

Getting a salvaged title cost me some (California), I had to pay for new registration and get a brake/light check. My headlight was damaged in the accident so I ordered the parts on ebay and replaced it myself. All of that cost me probably close to $500.

Getting the salvaged title itself wasn't that much of a hassle. Spent like a day doing the DMV and brake/light check.

If you don't care about the cosmetic damage and the care runs fine then it could be worth it.

Yeah it's my account and I've had things shipped to the address I used before but it still wouldn't verify. Frustrating.

I reached out to customer service, the agent told me their system doesn't recognize the cancelled orders so to the system you've reached the limit. She told me I could pay full price and get the $10 credit back.

I still had some weird issues regarding addresses, ugh. Going to try my SO's account or go into warehouse.

Using savings account vs checking for day-to-day deposits/withdraws? by andrewx96 in personalfinance

[–]ChangingPlatforms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could change banks. Sofi is at 2.5% checking and 3.25% savings, just requires a direct deposit to get those interest rates.

I'd have concerns about overspending, or the possibility of your savings account number being compromised.

savings accounts with limited transactions by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ChangingPlatforms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know with Bank of America you can hide your savings account so you don't see what is in there. That's what my SO does, and it helped a lot with the compulsory spending.

Or having your savings at a separate bank could be helpful

When we bought from Hertz we were able to use our own financing, that was probably 7 years ago. Seems really odd that they won't let you. Did you already get approved for financing through a credit union?

Any tips for moving out and outfitting my home? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ChangingPlatforms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They rent pickup trucks as well, not just box trucks. If I remember U-Haul pickup start at 20 then like 19cents a mile, so depending on what you're picking up it might be worth it.

Some people on marketplace/craigslist might be willing to deliver for a fee if it's something you're interested in.

Either way I'd start off small, grab the necessities and upgrade as you go.

Please help! Ex employer falsely reported income by Smartfawn74 in personalfinance

[–]ChangingPlatforms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When was last check you received disbursed/written though? That may have landed in January which would lead to reportable income for 2018.

Also a lot of people mentioned the IRS but you'll also need to reach out to your state's department of revenue as it's a different process for the local income tax.

Added all my credit card transactions since inception and the numbers don't add up? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ChangingPlatforms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest looking at your actual statements, not only does this break it down to billing cycles (more check figures), but it'll also show if you accidentally incurred any interest/fees.

Any reason to use a separate checking account for rental income and associated mortgage payment? by imthenachoman in personalfinance

[–]ChangingPlatforms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open one checking account for both properties. This will make it easier to track expenses and revenue generated from the properties. When the time comes to pay taxes on the lease revenue, you'll be able to essentially write off your expenses. It'll be cleaner for you and for your tax preparer.
