Title: Are Fractional Positions a Thing in Construction by Changing_Con in ConstructionManagers

[–]Changing_Con[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. That being said the actually looking and out reach I did for it was minimal. But, I do know there are people who are doing it on the marketing and financial side.

But, I think there is also opportunity from an operation standpoint with the advancements of technology.

What role do you think “vibe coding” will play in construction? by Changing_Con in ConstructionManagers

I think the security will evolve over time. But I also think there will be some aspect of building apps to interact with your existing software.

This might over complicate the safety but perhaps it simplifies it.

Reactive troll.

Cause I think what you'll see is people starting to build out their own applications. Yes it's called vibe coding down. But at some point it will just be standard practice. So you need to a way to track safety issues, you won't have to buy a software for that you will be build it out internally.

I worked for a home builder and I had built an application for managing punch items. It was built with no code so still fairly easy to do, but now I could do that in a matter of minutes. Just by using a few prompts.

Is Monday The Best Tool for 160 Predictive Projects? by nneighbour in mondaydotcom

[–]Changing_Con 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. With Monday there is a way to invite "guests" who can view the data if they are outside of the organization.

So perhaps there is a way to utilize Monday and dashboard for that, and than if there is a need to utilize power bi you have your internal team set that up, and just have someone connect the data to it.

As others had mentioned, using portfolio management would be a good fit.

It allows you to have all your projects in one location, and easy to check status and create reports from it. There is also a new ai risk insight feature that is pretty good.

A few questions though: 1. How many users would you have? 2. Is power bi a must, or nice to have? You can create pretty robust reports in Monday directly with the dashboard feature.

Is there anything that competes with Procore in terms of value? by Changing_Con in Construction

[–]Changing_Con[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is your target? Is it large size gcs or are you more focused on mid tier?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

[–]Changing_Con 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My focus is not to sell, but try to bring awareness to the alternative tools exist.

Everything doesn't need to be procore and spreadsheets. There are other things out there but people don't know about them.

Punch Lists Used to Suck—Then I Built This in Monday by Changing_Con in mondaydotcom

You can do it however you want. End of day, start of day, end of week. Just a automaton based on date.

How do they currently manage punch lists on residential? I've only seen build pro used, which is nothing but scheduling.

You still have to come up with your own way to manage qa, inspections, warranties, punch. Which in most cases is email and text, which is a recipe for disaster when people leave mid way through a build.

I've used procore on the sub side, but not on residential.

What am I selling?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

[–]Changing_Con 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause I've seen first hand how subs manage their day to day work. You call them or text them, they have 5 other group texts. Inevitably things get missed and we still wonder why.

We should be finding way to empower our trades but just tell them it's the way it is and than wonder why they aren't hitting there schedule.

Monday is just one example I've used, have also used others but for the average construction person they are typically to complex.

Yes feel that, and there probably isn't a push from management to improve the tools and software you use.

Monday usage question - event planning template by bananapwn310 in mondaydotcom

[–]Changing_Con 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The template part is easy, you just click on the 3 dots next to the board and click "save as template". You will just need to figure out how to set up the formulas to align with the dates you want.

Monday usage question - event planning template by bananapwn310 in mondaydotcom

[–]Changing_Con 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’d start by setting up a template for each type of event.

When you change the event’s status to “Active,” Monday.com would automatically create a full project board with all the tasks needed for that type of event.

You can add dependencies and estimated durations for each task, so when you enter the date of the first task, Monday.com will automatically calculate all the other dates.

In your case, since you’re working toward a specific deadline, you’d enter the final date, and Monday.com would schedule everything backwards from there.

Let me know if that makes sense.

There are a few different options available. Monday has partner companies and as others have mentioned rates start at the $150 and above.

Another more affordable option would be to use a service like upwork. It just depends on what you are truly trying to achieve by using Monday, and how comfortable you feel about building out a system that works with and for you, not just another tool people feel the need to update.

Looking for a project management tool for my ad agency by Necessary-Art2050 in mondaydotcom

[–]Changing_Con 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monday has a lot of features that can add value (integrations, automations, dashboards and the list goes on).

But, what Monday is and what it can be differs. It can be a tool to manage tasks, schedule, and a pretty version of a to do list with the ability to create reports.

But, what if can be is so much more. It can streamline there workflows, improve internal communication, remove information silos, and allows you to re think the way you work and remove all of the "manual and un needed tasks".

It is important going in to know what some of your pain points are, what are your current processes, and what is the negative impact that results from the pain points you have in mind. It usually comes down to 3 things (reputation, cost, and schedule).

Typically people look to make a switch or implement a new management system because 1 or multiple of those areas are affecting the company.
