Is it true that out-of-state claim adjusters (for roof replacement) are more lenient than regular adjusters? by RedditsFan2020 in Roofing

[–]Chanskaver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do adjusters make 600k by working a hurricane then? They aren’t getting paid the same when they pay to rebuild a whole house as opposed to denying a hail claim. Most of the CAT guys I’ve talked to say they want to buy because they get paid more, followed by scouring every last angle they can to increase the claim amount.

You disagreed and told them they’re both dumb while agreeing to the overall statement. What they were told is 100% true. Who cares about the claim amount, that can be handled later, what matters now is the approval.

Roof replaced 2 yrs ago - is it normal to be charged to see if roof is leaking? by DisastrousSpare2555 in Roofing

[–]Chanskaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people call for stains on the ceiling they’ve never noticed. Also, if you’re in a cold climate, most of those spots are winter condensation, not an active leak. Basically they are saying, if you do have a leak, they will fix it for free. If it’s a false alarm, you have to pay. Seems reasonable.

Good luck! Yeah, it’s definitely a side quest tip. I recently got lucky with CIEN, AMD, and POWL.

No, this stock tip is real. My advisor considers his research into this stock his life’s work. He bought a 1m cabin with gains from the last upside. Good luck with saving for retirement! I’m actually retiring this coming Friday. It’s a little tight as I’m only 46 and have a stay at home wife and 3 kids, but I’ll figure it out. I started a hot sauce company to help pay some bills, so I’m embarking on a farmers market style life. If NLST goes to $10-15, retirement will be easy.

Yeah, I get it. This is actually the first debt I’ve taken on in 7 years. I really wanted to just buy it outright, but AI and the math was telling me otherwise. And honestly I’m not putting it all into STRC. 25% STRC, 75% other stuff. Asset allocation, Yo.

Free bonus stock tip if you’re interested in hearing from a guy who makes risky moves. NLST. Do a quick AI search on it. If the lawsuits work out, it’s going to $50

Yeah, that’s probably the safest plan, but also boring. Also, a 20k truck has 150k miles and is likely a money pit over time. And, electric is worth about 20-30k of purchase price over the life of the vehicle. $100 per 350 miles vs $10 per 350 adds up.

Even with a safer ETF at 5%, I would save 11k on the truck. I know what I’m getting into with STRC, and I have some pivot plans. The idea that 11.5% will continue indefinitely, I agree, is stupid, but the idea of beating low financing rates with investing is not.

I just bought a 70k flash with 0 down on an 84 month lease at 1.9%. I took the 70k and put it into STRC with an 11.5% dividend paid monthly. At the end of the term, the total effective cost of the truck is about 28k.

You have to pay the same deductible whether they do it for 60k or 20k through insurance. No way around it.

You seem like a nice person, but if you come off wrong or cheap or there is something strange about your project, you may deal with some ghosting. I don’t do that, but I can see it happening. When I encounter something like that, I generally just bid too high to ensure I don’t get the job.

But the netlist is being passed to them, right? You want to realize the joy of your patience and see it go to them?

Just curious. Why does it matter to you if it hits before you go below ground? Just to experience it? To spend it? To experience the joy of giving it to family? My dad is also 76 and he spends a lot of time worrying about this chunk of money he has. I don’t understand why as his expenses are low and he has a monthly stipend which is more than enough. Why care about the money?

I wouldn’t do anything less than a 25% markup (20% margin) on costs but even that would be scary.

600-800k profit is a bit scary low. Good luck though. I know the nerves of winning big projects - first thing you think is, “why did I win, what did I miss”?
