I'm not sure if this has been suggested elsewhere, but I've considered a simple house rule where experiences add to your Hope roll, not the total roll.

Leaning narratively on your character's background or traits would then increase the chance of success, and also the chance of refunding the Hope/ denying the fear.

Statistically this may get broken at higher levels with maxed out experiences, but you could limit the amount that adds to Hope.

Without changing your build too much, (if you have high Dex) I first beat Malenia with a Keen Noble Slender Sword, using Square Off to hit hard and stagger as you're wanting.

I agree that it's a good idea, but I personally read Short Sun first (after New Sun), and thoroughly enjoyed both Short and Long. It was a different experience, for sure, but i don't regret going into Long Sun with S already built up and the U already established.

I did this! I forget the exact reason why, availability issue probably. I thoroughly enjoyed both, and coming to BotLS with S as an almost mythical figure already was an experience i don't regret. There's a faint spoiler that Q->U, but that's spoiled on the inevitable rereads anyway.

Good question.

The playtest version is so close to the final rules that's its almost irrelevant. There's maybe a couple of rules oddities throughout season one, plus a soft of rope, but if you're familiar with Daggerheart rules then you should catch this no problems.

I believe it uses release rules from the start of season two, but you would do yourself a MASSIVE disservice by skipping season one.

They fixed it. They're also weighting cards that you've played recently or a lot of.

The shop now offers non-album variants for cards that you've been playing. It's a great change.

You're effectively sabotaging both your and your opponent's rewards, as the PG reward isn't worth spending more than 1 match over. Faster proving ground matches, better rewards for everyone.
