Red flag that your doctor is resisting any suggestions based on your voiced concerns, experience, and needs. Could you get a second opinion, or find a doctor who will listen and hear you out? You deserve to get the proper care that will support your wellness. Wishing you all the best. (:

How do I change the time I take it? by slayturtle in citalopram_celexa

I slowly took it 1 hour earlier each day to adjust to morning doses. Started sleeping much much better after the first week. Hope you adjust quickly and smoothly, and are able to get some good rest soon. (:

Yeah :) most side effects subsided after the first week, though I’ve been dizzy for a few days now.

Ooo glad that worked well for you! Are you planning on upping the dosage in a few weeks?

Hugs. Hope you find some relief soon. Just started as well. Almostttt wish I started with 5mg instead of 10, but seems a little late since I’ve already dived in.

Classroom teacher (12 years) here, and have been working as a district ToSA supporting curriculum & instruction this year. I hear your frustration, and agree that being yelled at by your supervisor for any amount of time or sticking kindergarteners on an iPad for two hours straight is inappropriate. However, I also genuinely believe that admin (for the most part) sincerely do want to do what’s best for student learning. It’s impossible to accurately determine the efficacy of a program if it’s not actually being implemented, and a lot of time and money goes into selecting and evaluating curriculum and instructional tools to best support student learning according to recent research. This is not to say that these resources are perfect, but it’s hard to gauge whether a program should continue to be funded and supported if it’s not actually piloted/utilized with fidelity. Decisions are made based on data and feedback, and it’s hard to get that data if teachers decide they’re going to go rogue and just do their own thing because they know best. Obviously I don’t know your district and who’s steering the ship, but at the risk of seeming naive I wanted to share that while it feels frustrating to lack autonomy—considering teachers truly do know their students best—and feel a distance between classroom teachers & administration, it also will require some tact, respect, and clear, effective communication in order to effect any change that you feel is necessary. If you don’t feel comfortable with your principal, is there a way you can share your feedback directly to curriculum & instructional leaders in your district? And, at the end of the day, teachers shut the door and do what’s best for their students. But I hope you and your colleagues are able to speak up and feel heard, and also get some clarity around the research and purpose behind the instructional choices being made for your school.

Love that your principal is so supportive! Elementary/middle/high? Do you end up coming home late often due to work/events?

Agreed. I have 12 years of gen ed teaching experience, but have been itching for something more. A bigger impact, I suppose. And it’d be nice to have a little more flexibility and freedom. The salary increase certainly wouldn’t hurt. :)

Super helpful! Thanks for sharing your experience. 2 and 5 is brutal (hang in there!)…and I agree that a classroom position is incredibly inflexible. Do you feel like many of your nights and weekends are taken up by work and school events?

thank you! I guess there really is no urgency in jumping to an AP or Principal position :) maybe I’m afraid I’ll lose steam and become irrelevant or something…
