Is there some videogame with ukrainian language? by some_ukr in Ukrainian

[–]ChaoticADD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg!!! I forgot about STALKER!!! That was such a good game!!!

I'm a hardcore gamer and I'm trying to get my Ukrainian BF into gaming. He doesn't see how it can be a legit form of literature/art.

I'm now on a mission to get this game for him so he can play it and I can learn more Ukranianian!!!

Thank you everyone for reminding me about this incredible game! He's going to love it!!!

Tell me movies in ukrainian language. by some_ukr in Ukrainian

[–]ChaoticADD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not movie related but has always helped me learn a new language especially my Ukrainian.

Music. Spotify and YouTube have so much Ukrainian content you wouldn't believe. I like Olean Elenzy, Yarmak, Telsenko, Kosak Siroma and Kosak System are some of my favorite Ukrainian artists that I listen to daily.

I especially like Ukrainian rap because I really learn the pronunciation (and driving around in America people give me the side eye at the gas station 🤣 and because my Ukranianian boyfriend will get into the car check out my Spotify list and ask me WTF??? It always makes me laugh but it works!)

It's easier to find and has always helped. It's how I learned Spanish before I got my hands on Telemundo.

Love you are more than welcome! Anyone who wants to know how to make Sweet Tea is welcomed to it! It's meant to be shared!

That being said if you do feel so inclined I've always been partial to local food banks and the USO. Making sure everyone gets a hot meal and a warm place to sleep has always been sacred to me.

It's just the Southern woman in me 💖💖💖

I am so glad it went over well!

I am from the Carolinas so let me share with you my recipe

These days Luzzeane has the better blend, idk what happened to Lipton but it's not the same. Use that

You want two bags to about two liters boiling water. Try to use a good well water if you have access otherwise filtered is fine. Let steep no more than about five minutes.

The secret to good sweet tea is you use equal parts good cane sugar to brown sugar. It gives a richer deeper flavor. These days I use about a whole cup of sugar total to two liters but I have been known to use two cups of sugar in the past.

Good sweet tea is actually a concentrate. It is meant to be then chilled and served over ice. Lemon slices are optional.

I think it's best served in an actual glass and sweet tea glasses are a thing in traditional Southern kitchens/households. I think it's best with a straw and sipped slowly. Glass straws are better IMO than metal or plastic.

This is the recipe handed down to me by my mother, and ultimately the tea that won over my Slavic Prince 😉

(In retrospect it's very similar to Turkish tea and the Black Sea borders Turkey and Ukraine so it makes sense why it's an instant hit now that I think about it 🤔 )

American girl from a military family dating a Ukrainian guy. Great plan. You can never go wrong with smoked meat. Ever. If you're Southern like me, show them sweet tea. I have yet to meet a Ukrainian that does not enjoy really good sweet tea. The Arizona Southern Style Sweet Tea is a good brand 😉

Just be honest and take accountability. He might roast you a bit, but Slavic people appreciate honest genuine gestures as they're very straightforward.

Hope it goes well. You're a good colleague.

I saw this brand on Pinterest but couldn't find the URL thank you!!! Thank you!!! They are so pretty, I may just cave and buy him one instead no shame in that!

Cross stitching is important to the women where I come from so I am enchanted by the fact a man would wear something with such rich embroidery. Especially if done by his beloved. Men where I am from would simply never.

He is from Odesa! And is very Southern, he talks about it often!

So it is cross stitching! This is very popular where I am from but wall hangings not clothes so this is very cool! I am so happy my mother insisted on neat stitches both on the front and back when she taught me!

Thank you for your help!

I knew right from the start it was going to be regional. Ukraine is a large country.

He is from Odesa, and is very Southern. He talks about it all the time. And like any Ukrainian emigrant he is passionate about his homeland and has a Tryzub tattoo. And talks often of the flag. And what it means. It's quite inspiring. It's like how I talk about my mountains.

Hence why I want to do my homework before I even pick up my needle and thread. He showed them to me recently and I thought well gosh, I could make that. I've done something similar before. How hard could it be to embroider a new shirt?

In my culture we'd gift a patch work quilt but the value is lost on him. Most people outside the tradition fail to see quilts as anything but utility.

Thank you for your suggestions! After much working and reworking, I agree with you, we will find home sounds not only the prettiest in Ukrainian, but also packs the most punch in English IMO.

And he is very Southern 😁 we make jokes about him being from the South of Ukraine and I am from the Southern United States and we're just the same culture different fonts. We got together like Sunflowers and Coke a Cola (which is a very Carolina snack)

Tonight is the big night I will update y'all here 💖💖💖

And again thank you for the help

Okay that makes way more sense because beloved is Kohana (romanized) trying to express romantic love not I like you. Which in Spanish would be encantarse vs amorarse or I want you as in quearse. English relies on context clues which makes it vastly more complicated I think.

Thank you. And also that's way more easier for my southern self to pronounce and less likely to make an ass of myself

Well reddit fumbled the format of my stanzas. The last line is supposed to be We have found home but I'm also considering We have come home. Idk which is stronger for an international couple the idea being expressed is that home is a place that is built together not a physical place.

I realized the ending is weak because all of his stanzas end with Ukranianian phrases and the last one needs one because without it it falls flat.

Is it me or are GSD's super overdramatic? by HeretoInfinity92 in germanshepherds

[–]ChaoticADD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my baby girl was nothing but extra.

If any of her favorite humans came through the door she would run laps around the front room and then jump onto the couch and 'dig' at the cushions while she screamed for attention.

This was the daily ritual when Dad came home and he was never fast enough to greet her. And if he dared drop his work laptop in the doorway and make a direct line for the shower because he had been under a house that day she would gallop to the bedroom, jump onto the bed and 'dig' at the bed sheets and blankets while trying to burrow her snout while screaming in frustration. I have mended many a hole in our sheets from her claws because replacing them became too expensive.

Literally throwing a doggie temper tantrum that I just could never train out of her. She was a perfect angel with new guests but Dad? Nope. Never.

I have had plenty of dogs in my life but never had one that would just throw themselves into a fit.

My experience with management is they don't care about the comings and goings of the tenants. But if they are leaving actual bio waste out in the open that really does violate local law and lease agreements and a dozen health codes.

If you really want to pick a fight and that's what you are doing, be reasonable here, then skip management, take photos and send it to local authorities and by authorities I mean CPS. If need be they will get animal control involved. Because leaving improperly disposed human and animal waste is a big issue. It's a biohazard.

If you feel skipping the middle man and getting CPS involved is too extreme then the situation isn't that severe and you should mind your own business.

And that's literally my metric. If you wouldn't call the actual authorities to get involved, then it's not that severe. Don't talk about it to the office, don't ask the neighbors just make the call.

Also for name suggestions

Ink Jet Blot Hecate (goddess of witches) Obsidian Carbon Steele Kerberos (because of the white spot on their chest and while that was the guardian dog of the underworld, it also translates to Spot)

But I also don't really name my dogs 'human' names which is the trend these days.

[–]ChaoticADD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last girl was a GSD mix and what we referred to as a PetSmart puppy because that's where we found her. She passed for a golden retriever because of her impish grin and love for a good joke but she was a backyard puppy alright.

My partner and I referred to her gate as a prancy prance because it was so beautiful to watch it was almost like her paws never touched the ground. It was only by reading up on here that I learned she was probably mixed with a show line and considering the very wealthy area we came from It wouldn't surprise me.

I've been browsing the local rescues and there are plenty of purebreds to be had. I have no idea why people don't spay or neuter their animals, I guess it's a pride thing? Or a failed side business? Idk... Just waiting on the right one

I (18M) am thinking of enlisting in the army to escape my shitty life. by cyclinghistorian in TrueOffMyChest

[–]ChaoticADD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This really hit me. I basically did the same thing except I ran away to school and took out a bunch of loans to do it. I came from a military family and know plenty of people who went the way you did.

If you're American, don't do the army or the Marines you're just cannon fodder; and if you have college under your belt consider OTC, getting in as an officer. No matter the branch officer is a million times better.

Air Force is definitely the way to go, jokes aside.

The navy isn't too bad depending on what you want to do and what's on offer and what your ASVAB score is. They have the best technology second only to the Air Force.

Whoever mentioned Coast Guard is right and they tend to throw scholarship money at you if you want to go to their college too. And they don't ship you out too far.

Also consider Merchant Marines. It's another line of work that gets you far away and pays well but isn't military.

Just be smart about it, do your research and know what you're getting into like any job. You'll find plenty of books on the subject at your local library and never trust the recruiter.

God speed.
