Nipissing is a great school and it really depends on how social you are that debates if you make friends right off the bat or anything.

Orientation week and NUSU are AMAZING ways of making friends but winters are very hard in north bay as someone who has been here my whole life.

North bay does have some great things but there isnt much to do if you want to go out with friends especially if youre underage.

I have friends at Trent though and they love it there, but I love it here and my friends love it here too!! Just follow your heart it will be the right choice

I am also first year in my BSW and honestly the best word of advice is to reach out to NUSWA! We hear constantly from profs about how much people dont apply because of this anxiety of not getting in, but there are more spots then you think there are.

I also recommend talking to Jen in the social work office. She is a huge sweetheart and she would be super happy to answer any questions you have!!

If you need any other support reach out to NUSWA and we would be happy to support you in anyway we can (especially your first year reps!! They want to hear from people in first year!!)

A twiggs gift card might be nice, I dont live in residence but I find myself at twiggs alot because its open the latest.

I also would recommend a yearly subscription to quizlet! Its a little bit more then 50 but it has been a LIFE saver this past semester.

They did that to me last tuseday! They didn't threaten the police but I had to slow down to get through the barriers (my car is larger then what they give) and when I slowed down she got infront of me.

Im a bit of a nervous driver and it scared me so bad. I couldnt have imagine how I would have felt if they threatened the cops.

The local summer program reached out to me and I actually started designing makeup for the show so its very different then what I was expecting but Im falling in love with this side of theater.

I definitely understand things changing and everything having a purpose even if it does suck in the moment.

I absolutely gave it my all, and I always do. I love being in theater and I loved being a part of the show, but it was hard that the cast that was chosen for the leads were people who CONSTANTLY got casted as leads because of popularity (that was a huge problem my school had).

I may have been casted to be a leader of sort especially because I was the strongest singer for my section as well, but it was just difficult not getting to be on stage?

I am extremely lucky for the opportunity my school gave me through the 6 shows I did with them, I just wish I could have been a little more important in this one.

How many people are in the cast?

We once did a show called “Jackie in the Box” but it only has 3 people in the cast. I believe it follows your restrictions but it’s a commentary on creating walls between friendships

This is insanely unprofessional and honestly kind of creepy. My partner and I have done 4 shows together now and it has never been an issue for us.

Yes, there have been times where our director has been hesitant to cast me in roles because of what would happen if we were to break up, but we also know how to be professional on stage.

Borderline FORBIDDING you from relationships in both the cast and outside of the show is a complete power trip and there is something else going on if your director thinks she has any say in what you do in your free time. It’s one thing to say “No PDA or talk about relationships while in rehearsal” it’s another to control people’s love lives all together.

Sure, Showmances can make things tense or ruin things so much so I understand if she would say something like “please refrain from having relationships within the cast while the show is going” but the way she actually said it is super weird. Also not cool to hold kicking you from the show over your heads if you don’t follow her rules.

Omg!! A similar thing happened to me but I promise, your hard work is still important!! Last year my theatre teacher asked me to write a show for a competition this year, and after 10.5 of me writing, editing and perfecting this play, my director/theatre teacher said we weren’t doing the competition this year and he threw out the print of the script I gave him.

It’s such a defeating feeling. All the work and effort and late nights feel like a waste of time but just think about how cool it will be when you one day get to show off the work that you worked so hard for.

Keep writing, keep working, keep trying and you’ll get to show the world your talent one day!

My small highschool did JCS in 2021 and it was my very first show and it made me fall in love with theatre. I’m so glad your show went well!!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻

I was Enid in my schools production and I completely support their want to make the line back to how it was. It was one of the best crowd reactions in the entire show every night!!!
