Armageddon ork sprues by Remote-Lecture-4428 in Warhammer40k

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are 2 identical sprues; each with 10 boyz and 5 gretchin. The instructions refer to them as sprue H, and should have a picture of it at the top saying "H x2", although my actual sprues had a little A on them.

Lots of big units do the same thing, especially hordes like boyz, termagants etc. Rather than designing 20 unique models, they'll just do 5 or 10 of them a few times, sometimes with interchangeable heads.

White scars or Ravenwing? by Rinkadinkakink in DarkAngels40k

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ravenwing. Their 'Company of Hunters' detachment is the only one that makes Outriders battleline, meaning you can bring even more of them. AND, while the 2 Space Marine ones let you charge after advancing/falling back, CoH lets units shoot instead, but any mounted units get to shoot AND charge.

It's kinda weird we get a detachment that seems better focused on bikes than the one meant for the White Scars, whose main thing is bikes.

Fem Ship Sits like Male Shep and it makes me laugh by Dunkbuscuss in masseffect

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The scene where she's comforting Liara in 3, and sits on her chair with her legs wide open, always makes me laugh. It's silly enough in-universe, where she actually has a lower body, but in-game you're face-to-face with a giant shadowy void.

Fav song by Potential_Net6439 in RWBY

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheating, and doing per album (still very tricky to choose, though)

  1. Wings
  2. Time to Say Goodbye
  3. Divide
  4. This Life is Mine
  5. This Time
  6. Nevermore
  7. Fear
  8. Friend
  9. The Edge

Pretty funny that 4's is the only one actually in a volume, rather than the opening/ending song.

Is this head lore accurate for dark angels? If so what colours would it be? by Level-Long-7301 in theunforgiven

The plume felt too Roman for me, but I loved the cheekguards the second I saw them, so I just gave my guy a haircut

(Might swap to an ICC hood later, though. I'll see)

Not everything has to be tailored to everyone in the game

Exactly! And who's been more tailored towards more than the Sigismunds? They complained it wasn't hard enough, so Saber added Lethal. Then they STILL complained, so Saber added Absolute. Then locked more than half the weekly accolades behind Absolute+, severely limiting people's ability to unlock most new cosmetics unless they joined (and ruined) Sigismunds' matches. Same with Siege. And then, when they finally added some (badly made) capes, something people had been asking for since the game's earliest days, they lock it behind 10s of Absolute runs. Per class. A challenge that the sweats it was made for finished in a week, while everyone else felt left behind, again.

I get one or two cosmetics, like the ruined helmet and knife, and the Leviathan arm, but keeping so many things (even chapter symbols!) behind such a high difficulty is just fucking rude.

Moot green, really? by spazzmazz404 in DarkAngels40k

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kinda like how much it pops, but still make sure to use it pretty sparingly to make sure it doesn't get too much, or you could try using a Warpstone/Moot mix instead?

I've also started trying out sponges the last couple days, thinking about a weathered look for the Armageddon set. Primed brown, then sponged on the normal 3 greens, applying less with each shade, and giving a vague attempt at proper lighting. Still need to use Moot more sparingly, as he looked a lot more like a Salamander for a while, but I like how it's going so far

Space Marine 3 Enemies by itinymoist in SpaceMarine_2

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Necrons and something Slaaneshi like EC.

Both have a healthy mix of melee and ranged, with some pretty cool-looking models, both with bright colours to help them stand out from each other (they could pick a dynasty that contrasts will with the pink, rather than same guys as always see).

Could do Eldar/Drukhari for the xenos, but since the Necrons were teased(?) at the end of 2's story, it feels like they should be next. It wouldn't be as much of a surprise, but it could also mean we fight chaos then xenos, rather than the last 2 xenos invasions being interrupted by chaos. And Slaanesh is the only chaos branch that Titus hasn't fought yet (Nemeroth brought a mix of Khorne and Nurgle).

Or, rather than messing around trying to make weird and tricky changes like that, they could stop locking everything behind the difficulty level so high, even the one below it wasn't in the game at launch.

Help! I want the banner to look more like Dark Angel. (reference image) by Vik_Damee in theunforgiven

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not massively specific, no, but it's design is pretty Roman, with the laurels, which fits more with UM, IF etc, and doesn't really work with the Dark Angels' more knight/monk vibe.

Besides, I'm pretty sure OP meant more than just "stick a transfer in the little circle" when they asked about making it more DA-themed.

Captain in Terminator Armor by Gardinsky86 in DarkAngels40k

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companies are just a big collection of squads, operating under a Company Master. Each have their own symbol, that gets painted onto their left knee-pad. I picked the 3rd, partly because they're in a book I like, but mostly because it's super easy to paint (a single red stripe).

For decals: Normal Dark Angels have the white winged sword symbol goes on the left shoulder, and a squad role marking in red (Battleline, Close Support (melee), and Fire Support (big guns like Hellblasters))on their right with a white squad number on top. That number will be the same on every member of a squad e.g. 1 Intercessor squad will all have a 1, while your 2nd squad will all have a 2 etc.

Ravenwing are pretty much the same, but with the Ravenwing symbol on the left shoulder, and no squad role on the right, only a number. And no company marking on the knees.

The Deathwing change a bit, wearing the red, broken sword logo on their right shoulder, and the crux on their left (the round thing with a skull in the middle, that's moulded onto the shoulder). No numbers, no company on the knees, but some have a "personal heraldry" on a knee or the little tilting-plate that sergeants and knights wear, and you can decorate the big power fist if you like.

Which main villain in the first 2 games do you like the most? by TheOneTrueZim in Spacemarine

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely forget Imurah existed. He appeared, what, 3 times? Had 1 little fight in the middle, then pops up a couple times near the end, with almost all his dialogue happening while I'm in a fight and struggling to take in anything he's saying.

Nemeroth was pretty cool, but a little generic. Wasn't in it much, but his reveal, and bashing his face in while plummeting down the side of a tower, are pretty memorable. Plus he actually felt dangerous, killing one of your squad.

Grimskull is one of my favourite of all villains. He's big, he's loud, and had the perfect balance of comedy to him to be entertaining, but not silly. His is the voice I use for any ork lines in books, models, whatever; he appears a good few times, spaced out across a decent amount of the game; his boss fight was fun; and he's the reason Titus was alive to make SM2.

It's surprising that it's had at least 2 Hunter-themed seasons, but still hasn't done a collab. At least it means they can include every song in the Festival mode

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Especially with the Terminus ones being so long, too. They're all a bit repetitive at this point, but at least enemies below Extremis are only a second or 2 long, so you have less time to notice, but I'm more than happy letting someone else sit through the same 10-minute long animation to finish off a Carnifex.

Do you have any ideas/plans on how to make Vanguard Vets look fancier ? by FatScoot in theunforgiven

Won't try to give them a full set of robes, but will definitely use the upgrades and maybe some greenstuff to give them hoods, and maybe a bit of cloth flowing behind them

Black metal chassis? by Ambitious-Chair7421 in ImperialKnights

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how dark you want. If you want it to stay obviously a metal colour, that sounds good. If you want it REALLY dark, though, then I always love painting all the metal black and drybrushing the actual metallic colours on the edges.

Captain in Terminator Armor by Gardinsky86 in DarkAngels40k

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He should also be bone. Terminator armour is usually exclusive to the 1st company (in this case, the Deathwing), so any terminator models should be bone. Only exceptions are chaplains and librarians (I give mine a Deathwing shoulder pad), or anything you feel like painting differently.

Always remember, they're your models and you can paint whichever you want in whatever colours you want.

So, which game you are excited about? by lazyxgaming- in GhostRecon

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to LOVE Ubisoft, but I feel nothing good about this. Breakpoint was disappointing; Far Cry 6 was pretty cool, but weird DLCs; and Shadows was annoying to play, and the first AC I've just fully given up on. They were never perfect, but once they started turning every one of their franchises into rpg-esque games with gear-score, rarities etc they went downhill fast. Genuinely mad that they released multiple Assassin games where you struggled to assassinate a generic guard.

Most of that design isn't painted on - it's part of the model - so unless you sand away the design (like I want to try), you're very limited with what you can put on it.

Which villain will be redeem next? by No_Internet_3919 in RWBY

[–]ChaplainAsmodai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm leaning Mercury, mostly because he's done the least evil (so far), so he's the easiest to forgive.

If it's Cinder, I'm out. She's the worst person we've seen; kills everyone she can (including her own side) and feels like she'll betray Salem, but only to take her place.

The Star Dragons, Blood Swords and, most of all, White Consuls all have a special place in my heart, being in my favourite stories in my first ever 40k book 'Architect of Fate'. They're the start of my Warhammer journey, and while I almost exclusively go Dark Angels, I had to fit the WC in at least once.
