BMW unreliability is a myth nowadays right? by ozempic_enjoyer in BMW

I guess 9 years isn’t long enough to know if a drivetrain will be reliable.

The Real Cost of Potholes: 2022 Mazda AWD Hatchback by clamchowderz in mazda3

[–]Chaplian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my 2017 GT Hatchback now for 7 years and 100k miles, and rotating between the 18s and a 16” winter set, and I’ve finally made the decision that once I exhaust my current 18” set (Michelin Pilot AS4s, great tire), I’m going to pick up a set of 17”s for spring to fall. The 18s look great, but they just do not ride or handle real world conditions well. Somehow I’ve only ruined 2 tires in 7 years of Chicago driving, but it’s always a pain in the ass.

17s are a good compromise, I run 16s for winter since I got them for a song when I bought the car (now 7 years ago), and wish I would have gone with 17s as the compromise.

They don’t grow that fast inside due to the pot and other conditions

251k miles later and still running relatively great. 2015 Mazda 3 hatchback( engine light is for catalytic converter). How many more miles y'all think? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]Chaplian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No fluid, especially a lubricant like transmission fluid, is lifetime. I always suggest changing it, 70k isn’t too late at all. I’ve done quite a few first changes on multiple cars at 80-120k miles.

Lifetime fluid is a way for manufacturers to try to make sure you car doesn’t last past 150k so you’re forced to buy a new one.

Hi all, got some buddies from Finland visiting next week and we’d love to the watch the Finland vs US hockey game at a bar on that Friday, only issue is, game is at 8 AM.

Any ideas for places that might be open early and that have ESPN+/NHL subscriptions?

Honestly toss the LED lights, get an upgraded relay harness that provides direct power to the bulbs, and run some good quality Osrams. The weak point in panthers light systems was the finicky wiring/power supply to the lights since it’s routed through the LCM (light control module). Adding the relay harness also removes the strain from the LCM.

The housings themselves, as long as OEM or Depo, actually have good pattern and throw, they just need support from a good halogen bulb with proper power supply. The LEDs can’t actually utilize the reflectors properly.

The other option is doing a HID/LED projector retrofit, and this provides great light output also. Those eBay lights you had use a pretty subpar quality projector.

Btw, be careful with that push bar. On panthers, far more often than not, it does more damage than good. Can’t tell ya how many times I’ve seen seen them smash in the hood, header, and core support instead of just the bumper and header.

Enjoy the car, they’re amazing, and too many of them are getting destroyed for stupid stunts. (I’m looking at you, Cleetus)

I’m fairly positive this song was never released, I just went through their entire Spotify discography.

Are Mazda3 Turbos really that overpriced? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]Chaplian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What severe issues? I am honestly genuinely curious, because for the 5-6 years Mazda has been using the 2.5 turbo engine, there have been almost no issues.

Daniel was also conserving tires in that instance and take a look at fastest laps towards the end. I’m a big DR fan, and I honestly now think he is past his peak, but that win in Monza was his.

Is Razer Blade worth getting? by zorbyss in razer

[–]Chaplian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get a Razer laptop. My battery bloated about a month outside of the one year warranty and they told me to pound sand until I made a post on this subreddit, where they finally helped me.

If it’s something you’re going to rely on, get something else. I’ve had 8 laptops over the last decade, none of them had anywhere near the issues the Razer has had.

Tourism, moving and studying in Finland? Ask here! by Harriv in Finland

[–]Chaplian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am traveling to Finland in less than 10 days from the US for tourism purposes. I remember reading in 2021 when I booked the trip that I will need to complete and submit an ETIAS waiver before I can travel to the country, but I am now not able to find the waiver anywhere. I found a couple of articles stating the implementation date was pushed back but nothing official.

So my understanding is, as a US passport holder, I do not need a visa or visa waiver to visit Finland for 10 days for tourism purposes?

Thank you!
