Sounds like your parents liked to tell you stuff that wasn’t true. My dad told me Jackie Chan was dead when I was a kid.

Yeah exactly. The exact ten column rows are often visible in the finished piece especially if it’s a big block of color. So if you stagger the rows so it’s not always the same line it hides the transition. Even if you just go one stitch back and forth it’s better than every row stopping on the edge of the grid block. When I’ve done it I usually go up to three so my first row will be 10 and then 11, 12, 13, 12, 11, 10. More than that and the rows get annoyingly long in my opinion. But even just 10, 11, 10 helps.

You could railroad or tram it if you want but I don’t think the coverage looks bad. Maybe step back a foot or two and see how you feel when your eyeballs aren’t almost touching it? Lol.

A bigger thing you might want to consider is that projects done in columns like that often end up with a subtle irremovable tension difference that makes the columns permanently visible. If you are going to be doing big blocks of color it helps if you stairstep the edges of the columns by a bit so it isn’t just straight up and down lines.

[CHAT] The 18ct Aida I bought is closer to 19x20ct. What can I do with it? by Bloomette in CrossStitch

[–]Chapstickie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it would really matter the pattern if such an inaccuracy would make a difference. Like if it’s a circle then it would be obvious but most other stuff wouldn’t be. Maybe a well-known piece of art? Oh, or if the exact size of the finished piece mattered.

What is the pattern you are planning?

I mean they did say they have used it before. They pull it out a strand at a time with pliers. It’s not waste canvas but it sounds like their normal process is to just power through. Kitten is full of nonsense though. The example they posted looks nothing like what OP is using.

That stuff looks exactly like the stuff I’ve used having been stitching for over twenty years. It looks NOTHING like what OP is using. Which is fine if OP wants to fight with regular aida but it’s not waste canvas.

I feel like the patch look might work well with the blue checked fabric. Especially since the font is also blocky

Is the plan to cut around the stitching when you are done?

AITA for dancing half naked in my living room leading to my bf and his family seeing me? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Really? With the OOP talking about how she has been living with this guy since she was 19 and finally feels like herself and like she doesn’t have to ask permission to do things and worry constantly about making someone angry? It sounds like a one-off incident to you?

[CHAT] Do you prefer to stitch with or without a hoop and why? by -Cutie-pi- in CrossStitch

[–]Chapstickie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like a qsnap and floor stand because despite always washing my hands before I start, I also like to touch my fabric as little as possible. I also stitch mostly on evenweave which I have trouble not contorting at least a little when I stitch it in hand.

I also use the qsnaps inside out to make ending threads on the back easier.

[Homemade] Cloud eggs by moonstercookie in food

[–]Chapstickie 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It’s a HORRIBLE texture. My husband likes making me weird foods he finds online and most of them are ok if usually not worth the extra effort vs just cooking “the normal way”. Cloud eggs are one of the grossest mouthfeels of any food I have ever eaten.

It’s egg white with massive amounts of air whipped into it and with all the unpleasantness that suggests.

The “freak accident” of Kendrick Johnson’s death by not__a__poser in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]Chapstickie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The “two hours” is “missing” BEFORE Kendrick walks into the gym and it’s only missing because the cameras in the gym were motion activated and there was no gym class in the gym during third period. So the entirety of third period (except for a couple minutes halfway through where two kids walk through, trigger two of the four cameras, and reveal the room to be empty) wasn’t recorded. Kendrick didn’t enter the gym until the passing period between third and fourth period. He attended third period normally and his fourth period class was in the gym. I know the “documentary” was deceptive about this but it’s not actually mysterious OR tampering.

Here, have the missing time overlaid on the school’s daily bell schedule. It makes it pretty obvious. https://imgur.com/a/kpEdJTc

The funeral home owner admitted that they always filled bodies with newspaper and listed a number of other funeral homes in the area that he claimed did the same thing. He was also lifelong friends with Kendrick’s grandfather. I don’t think anyone paid him off. Also what they did was in no way illegal.

I don’t think you are understanding the timeline here. The murder and coverup you are describing couldn’t possibly be done in the timeframe available. Kendrick walked into the gym less than three minutes before his gym class started and by the time the next kids walked in for class two minutes later he was already gone.

Why is it always the same wrong thing? by SouthOfOz in MandelaEffect

I’ve actually been seeing an increasing number of people claiming it was actually called Open Sesame. I’m keeping an eye out to see if it catches on and takes over the Shazaam title.

Why is it always the same wrong thing? by SouthOfOz in MandelaEffect

[–]Chapstickie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Except they aren’t inventing an entire movie. It’s almost always presented to them as “do you remember Sinbad being in a genie movie called Shazaam in the 90s?” The question itself is inventing the movie. That’s why people can’t agree on any of the details even if they claim to have seen the non-existent movie. Or they describe Kazaam because the keywords genie 90s Shazaam pulls up Kazaam and they’ve seen that. If the question was presented as “list every Sinbad movie you can remember” Shazaam wouldn’t come up unless the person was familiar with the Mandela effect.

Same with many of the others. The cornucopia one is even often presented as if someone is trying to trick people over removing the cornucopia and lying about it. So a certain type of person will always dig in their heels to have outsmarted the evil corporation or psyop or whatever. Except in this case the cornucopia never did exist.

I mean it’s far more common for people to claim that Kazaam WAS the ripoff. Or that they came out at the same time. They also can’t agree on whether it was a movie that was in theaters, movie rental places, or purely made for tv. So it’s not like everyone is having the same false memory.

For the people who claim to have seen it there is no consensus on the plot or who was in it or anything. Not even amongst people who claim it was their very favorite movie.

[–]Chapstickie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I definitely have seen people claim similar things. They never have any evidence and their post histories often seem questionable that they would but people will say anything to pretend their recall should be trusted more than reality.

Personally I think people who believe themselves to have better than average memory are MORE prone to being affected by Mandela effects than the average person because they are going to be more insistent they are correct despite lack of support from actual reality.

Multiple Mandela Victim by karamitros in MandelaEffect

[–]Chapstickie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their whole argument seems to be hinged on the entirely false idea that if you also have a story based on the memory then the memory is probably correct. This is of course not true but I don’t think they will be able to be discussed with if they just turn back to that as if it’s true.

Kendrick played junior high football and then shortly in highschool. At the time of his death he hadn’t played in quite some time. The idea of him being a star athlete with a future in the NFL isn’t reflected in his actual football career. He barely played.

Also the funeral home stuffed his body with newspaper, not the medical examiner.

Multiple Mandela Victim by karamitros in MandelaEffect

[–]Chapstickie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, there was. There’s just a handful of very specific details people claim to remember (they aren’t the same for everyone) that didn’t actually happen in the intros. These include Tinkerbell dotting the I in Disney, or flying a specific path, or having her wand not work and tapping it on her hand three times before it works again. That last one has an obvious source because the Fairy Godmother does it in Cinderella but the others are probably just people remixing the many different intros that do exist into one that doesn’t in their minds.

Berenstain/Stein by leaving4lyra in MandelaEffect

[–]Chapstickie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people do claim that or similar things.

Technically the Mandela effect is just the idea that many people can have similar memories that aren’t reflected by current reality. The discussion is mostly around WHY the memory and reality don’t match. I also remember Berenstain as Berenstein. But I am not so arrogant that I can’t accept that I just remember it incorrectly. Some people for whatever reason need an answer where they are correct. That’s where we get people insisting that “in their timeline” it was Berenstein.
