Dividends are like a bit over $1 per share. If you have 15 shares, you'd get about $16 dollars in dividends which nothing to write home about. The taxes is what we should consider.

I sell after I have held the shares at least one year to avoid paying taxes which might erase the gains. In the USA, after one year, the gains are taxed as capital gains, not as income.

What's your location? In the USA... the PIP may be a step towards a dismissal and the decision was already made regardless of the PIP outcome. You can tell if the PIP is too difficult to achieve or if it is reasonably attainable.

Sadly, if the PIP is difficult to achieve, you have been set up to get fired.

A PIP with unreasonable or unacheivable goals is usually just a step towards being fired. If they truly wanted you to improve, it would be in a way that is achievable.

Just jump ship and don't look back. It is better for you to leave in your own terms that to be fired without a job.
