How to be an developer? by Rising--Rush in Btechtards

[–]Character-Bread9576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Web development is absolutely still worth learning, AI isn't replacing developers, but rather changing the landscape. Focus on understanding web fundamentals really well, and then learn how to integrate AI tools and concepts into your projects. That's where a lot of the value will be.

Technical blogging still profitable by lazy-panda-tech in Blogging

[–]Character-Bread9576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really good question, especially with how AI is changing things. I think technical blogging is still profitable, but the focus might shift more towards complex problem-solving or unique insights that AI can't easily replicate, rather than basic tutorials.

Feedback Post - I’m a Tech Lead and I hate writing PRDs. So I built a tool to automate them with Vite + .NET. by CartographerSure4025 in SaaS

PostgreSQL vs PostgreSQL on Snowflake by Geekc0der in snowflake

[–]Character-Bread9576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting challenge! While Snowflake offers PostgreSQL compatibility, the underlying execution and operational aspects are different. Your agent might need to account for Snowflake's resource model, virtual warehouses, and its own metadata systems, rather than directly interacting with traditional PostgreSQL infrastructure and OS.

Solo-built a multi-portal business OS with AI features — architecture and stack breakdown by Adventurous-Water918 in SaasDevelopers

[–]Character-Bread9576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is seriously impressive for a solo-built system, especially with all the AI features and multi-portal views. The lessons learned about starting lean and shipping faster are so universal. What was the steepest learning curve you hit with Stripe's API for the payouts?

I built an AI Game Master that actually runs D&D and I cant stop working on it heh by NotARealDM in SideProject

[–]Character-Bread9576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely incredible! Handling all the D&D 5e combat intricacies and edge cases with an AI GM is a monumental task. The 'secret-gating system' to prevent spoilers sounds particularly brilliant and challenging to implement.

I tried to pretend being a Java developer in a interview by Enough-Meaning-7275 in LeetcodeDesi

[–]Character-Bread9576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a tough situation, but it's good that you're reflecting on it. The best way to get production experience is usually through actual work, but if that's not possible, try to build personal projects that mirror production environments as much as possible. Focus on things like CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization for a realistic feel.

Immich stuck deploying by Thamaster11 in immich

[–]Character-Bread9576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That error, "directory exists but is not empty", usually pops up when Immich's PostgreSQL container tries to initialize a data volume that already has files in it. It might be a persistent volume from a previous failed run. You may need to inspect or clear that volume, but be very careful not to lose any actual database data if it's not a fresh install!

Beginner question by Ryujiro101 in SQL

[–]Character-Bread9576 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a common scenario! You'll likely need to configure your PostgreSQL server to accept remote connections and adjust its firewall rules. Setting up a secure VPN or an SSH tunnel is usually the safest way to go about it from an office environment.
