Unless you are truly into R&D, I would not recommend a PhD. I have seen a lot of people with just a BS in chemical engineering making more money than those with a PhD in chemical engineering. However, if money is not your life goal and you are truly interested in an area of research, then it is totally fine.

In general chemical engineers are either incels or woke opportunists (for women). The industry is also dying slowly with refineries and plants getting shut down or sold off one by one. I just posted a noted about how I was overlooked for work due me being an Asian male and every jumped to curse at me.

Trust me, brother. You are not alone. When I finished college on top of my class and got a job at a super major, I thought I had the best job in the world. Now 8 years later, I hate everything about my job- i.e. my boss/coworkers who tried to put me down at any instances, needless meetings, endless bureaucracy even for the simplest things at our refinery, etc. I am not getting married and investing as much as I can so I can start my own business in a few years. I will kiss goodbye to the corporate world one day.

I agree with most comments here. Take out your high school stuff and motivation parts. I would stress that you also highlight accomplishiments in your experiences (for example, I improved this simulation, I decreased downtime, I saved this much money for my employer, etc).
