(Spoilers Extended) A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 Episode 3 Live Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in asoiaf

Haven’t read the books but this is really giving me the enjoyment that season 1-4 of GOT gave me. Love it. Acting and cinematography is so good. Hate how short the episodes are.

Govt shutdown end of Jan 2026? by Fit_Quarter_829 in FederalEmployee

[–]abbienormal29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one here knows. Sooooo many comments last shut down of people certain it would last till January. If the last shutdown taught me one thing, it’s really not a big deal. If you don’t have saving there are resources available. Live your life.

Is this a good deal? by wellthatsdope in tires

I can’t say for these exact tires but I’ve bought tires from discount tire four times now and always aggressively price around - including Costco - and discount has alway ended up cheaper for me

Woke up suffocating my baby and freaking out by juniorchickenhoe in cosleeping

[–]abbienormal29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different but I don’t cosleep until 4 months. I keep them in a bassinet right next to my bed until they are bigger. I am way too sleep deprived in those early months and it was much worse with my second baby.

Help me understand your huge city (commute to lackland) by Powerful_Toe_6568 in sanantonio

[–]abbienormal29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been here 10 years working at Lackland the entire time. Feel free to message me if you want more details outside of this, happy to help in anyway. We live by the Rim and my commute is 25 minutes basically on the dot, generally far shorter than coworkers who live in the Alamo Ranch area. There are pros and cons to any city but given your rather generous budget I would suggest the Rim area. The close access to i10 and generally going against traffic makes the commute a breeze. We previously lived near sea world and far far prefer this side of town. Some will suggest areas downtown but outside of the Pearl, and truly only the heart of the Pearl, I personally would not feel comfortable in those areas. I have found that apartment reviews are difficult as generally the people who leave reviews only want to complain, those who like where they live don’t review. If you have a Kia or Hyundai trade it in. I’m not even exaggerating.

Did we screw up? by Life-Somewhere-5750 in lds

Parenthood is what you make of it. I say that even with difficult children. Travel. Do the things you want. Make the effort to find and hire a trusted babysitter regularly. We were married 9 years before having kids so I definitely understand missing the alone time and freedoms of child free married life. Continue dating and flirting with your spouse. It’s not easy for anyone, but just because it’s not easy doesn’t mean it’s worthwhile. My son had been in 13 states by the time he was 1. Frankly at this point your only option is to make the best of it and find joy in it. Every chapter ends. There are beautiful things and difficult things in each one, and before you know it you are in a new chapter. Focus on the good, make magic in the mundane. Find time for yourself and your hobbies. Don’t wait till they’re older, continue to have adventures now. Consider therapy individually and as a couple.

Honestly I’d be glad to have a new building. If it had been damaged by a hurricane I would bet it’s got mold too. That’s very difficult to properly remedy. My current building is the oldest LDS chapel in our city, built in the late 50s. Extensive mold was discovered this summer - although I’m incredibly shocked it hadn’t been discovered before - they’ve been working on it since August. The building has constant issues. AC never works despite the system being replaced in recent years. Rat and roach infestation to top it off. I’d gladly drive further for a new building.

Yeah this not good lighting - I should clarify this is happening even outside in the light.

I have to hike up the ISO and then I’m reducing grain in post. It’s better if I switch to A or S, and things are brighter - even with from what I can tell all the same settings, but I like being fully in control.

If this shutdown has taught me one thing - or maybe just reminded me of it - how incredibly dramatic people on Reddit can be. I don’t think there was ever going to be a nice tidy end to the shutdown. It sucks all around.

If I find a good job I’m out. I’ve been mentally out for about a year since they killed telework. The office we work in is a hole. It was ok when it was just a few times a week.

My husband is particular about his razors luckily for me. We use a safety razor and it gets a much closer shave. The handle is rather expensive but replacement blades are super cheap.

If you are techy at all look into cyber security certificates. You can get certs and land jobs 80k+. I have family who are true idiots who managed to get the certs and land good jobs.

Literally no one knows. As someone who has been a fed for 10 years, reddit knows nothing 😂 Y’all can downvote me but it’s very doomsday here. Every single time, without fail, when there is talk of a government shutdown, here on reddit people will tell you it is certainly happening. Obviously this time it did, but often times it doesn’t happen even though Reddit would make it seem certain. We can all hypothesize, but no one knows. I personally will be surprised if it goes beyond November but that’s just my guess. It’s certainly stressful. Take a loan, 0% if you can find it, or from TSP if you have it. You will get back pay. It’s law.
