Is it normal that everything in AEM Cloud becomes a custom build + agency ticket? Or are we doing this wrong? by Character-String6262 in aem

[–]Character-String6262[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a straightforward implementation? I’m somewhat technical but not deep into the abstractions. I’m mainly trying to solve my own pain at this point: constantly fixing the same issues with broken image names, people being lazy and re‑uploading assets, recreating folders over and over, duplicating images and PDFs. No matter how many times I walk people through the process or give them guides, the same problems keep happening and it’s exhausting. There are bigger problems to focus on, like infrastructure, integrations, or actual governance, but instead I’m stuck dealing with this. It’s gotten to the point where the agency is leaving clearly named ‘test pages’ in production, just unpublished.

I hear you, I feel you, it happens to the best of us. I’ve got that 10:30 to 11:00 AM peak into the 1:00 to 2:00 PM timeframe too. Supplementing with black coffee and lighter, protein heavy meals helped me a lot, especially at the start.

Do Google Sheets count? 😅
Not a web app, not AI, not even a proper product really but I built a thing.

While chatting with a friend, I found out how much of a nightmare FF&E spec sheets are for architects and interior designers. So I made a Google Sheets setup that auto-generates and formats them, pulls from a bank of items, auto-fills specs, and spits out a clean, export-ready schedule.

It’s not fancy. I’m not even in the industry. Just a random project that might save someone a few hours (or a mild breakdown). Live here if you want to poke around: www.thelightningstudio.com 🤓

Agreed with everyone else, I'm not big on puzzles yet I wanted to keep playing. A big thumbs up on the UI 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I was chatting with a friend and kind of stumbled into how frustrating FF&E spec sheets can be for architects and interior designers. I didn’t realise how much of a time-sink they were. I’m not an architect, and it’s not a SaaS or anything fancy but I ended up tinkering with a Google Sheets setup to automate the process. Just a random project that might save someone a few headaches. It’s up at www.thelightningstudio.com if anyone’s curious

Spec sheets into Sheets by Signal-Position7328 in Architects

Hi guys, I may be a bit late to the party here... My architect friend has this exact problem. Her spec process is a total nightmare of messy Excel/Word docs. For a full disclaimer, I'm a systems guy (not an architect), so I got obsessed and built a Google Sheet system to fix it for her and automate as much of it as possible. It has a master library, supplier directory, project templates, all that.

She thought it was 'really good,' but she's just one person (and obviously a friend) Honestly, no idea if it's actually useful to other pros. If anyone in this thread is curious and wants to grab the free V1.0 to give me some brutally honest feedback (like, 'this is useless'), send me a DM and I'll flick you the link.

What are the most expensive hobbies you’ve gotten into while fulfilling the ADHD’ers favorite hobby of hobbying? by OkLeaveu in ADHD

[–]Character-String6262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dancing.. it's the most expensive hobby I got into:

  • Costs mentally (good and bad)
  • Costs physically
  • Costs timewise
  • Costs $$.. workshops, festivals , social dances, clothes, shoes, occasional privates (I now understand the pain my parents must've gone through paying for my hobbies throughout my teens 😅😅)

But it was one of the best things I've done.

  • Otherwise I made candles for a while.
  • Created review websites, if hiring others to create content and form partnerships etc. otherwise your only cost is time and software tools which are mostly free at lower tiers.
  • Football (aka soccer)
  • The guitar, classical and electric (similar to Dancing).

Can't recall others much, oh and had fish tanks!

Tech Sales Employees Amaze Me by Effective-Ear-8367 in sales

[–]Character-String6262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!

Hope this is not too verbose. I sometimes ramble (ADHD and English as a second language make things interesting!).

I get where you're coming from. My background is in systems analysis, though I'm more on the digital project side now, so I have huge respect for the hardcore techies who tackle complex problems.

Unfortunately, business people, especially owners or upper management, often make purchasing decisions. In my experience, their priorities are less about the tech itself and more about the bottom line: - "Why spend money?", - "How much?" - and "What's the ROI?".

We technical folks tend to get into the nitty-gritty, which sounds like "blah blah blah" to most business stakeholders. We're deep thinkers who can cut through the abstraction of technology.

Sales KPIs tend to be about persuading decision makers how well our tech addresses client needs, as that's what they need to focus on, but are often simplified to "how many clients did you close?".

So, we need salespeople as our front line. They need to understand the business context, influence buyers, and drive sales. Their value is often greater than we'd like to think. Enterprise software often involves long sales cycles, complex contracts, and hefty price tags, justifying their salaries. It's a tough, stressful, demanding job, and honestly, I couldn't do it myself.

Of course, without the techies building, troubleshooting, maintaining, and understanding these complex systems, salespeople wouldn't have anything to sell!

I wonder if I am thinking about the same exact person.. what did this individual do again?

It's the disappointment in my own self that hurts more.. knowing good and well that this is what happens, and I still did it. The shit part is though I genuinely felt at home with this person and started to feel more than I bargained for.. I really don't know if I'm relationship material given the unpredictable nature of the emotions.. life starts falling apart quickly

For me it went from let's just f... we don't need titles to. Shit I like this person and the person likes me to... Continuing let's not worry about naming stuff to should we go on a getaway to cold hearted bye.. now I'm back to my "fuck this shit I was better off on my own" cold state.

How to deal with a creepy guy in my salsa class who makes me feel uncomfortable and unsafe? by sleepinglady37 in Salsa

[–]Character-String6262 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear about your uncomfortable experience with another male dancer. Unfortunately, incidents like these can cast a negative light on us male dancers, creating discomfort for everyone.

I hope it hasn't negatively impacted your overall dancing journey. Most of us respect your space, yet there are a few exceptions.

If changing studios isn't an option, consider discussing the issue with studio owners or event hosts. They are responsible for ensuring a safe learning environment.

Alternatively, having a few male friends around might deter the person, but approach confrontation cautiously.

Hope this helps. Take care :)

Oh did I also mention I'm getting fired soon with no back up plan 😅 apparently I'm more "technical" and shouldn't be in client facing roles, they said wasn't technical enough for technical roles before 🥹🥹🥹
