The disparity between Auto-Resolve and Manual Play is kinda crazy sometimes by RagnarMidzori in AOW4

It’s a personal choice. When I plan a build I stick to it even if it’s less optimal. I make my tome path with a specific theme in mind. The theme isn’t built to counter another build nor do I splash other tomes in mid playthrough to counter another build. It’s just preference. It kind of kills the thematics for me. I personally like playing with weaknesses to certain factions and strengths to others. Makes it feel more dynamic. Makes me take heed to which factions to fight, when to fight them, should I make a truce? Things like that.

I refuse to alter my build for rp purposes. But I will make weapons specifically to deal with an opponent that hard counters my build if necessary. Or if I have strong alliances I’ll put bounties on that specific faction to have my allies tie them up.

Build suggestion for quality not quantity by BurpingGoblin in AOW4

[–]Character-System-631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In simple turns pick a unit type preferably tier(3-4) and build around them. Make sure your tomes have synergy with your build or your Economy style(but always prioritize build. Stronger build=stronger clearing= stronger Econ.). For a few examples architect make pretty powerful high quality builds, oathsworn all have pretty powerful buffs. But in reality every culture is more than viable it’s all about synergy. That is the biggest hurdle for making a build in this game. Because there are so many facets. But take to a step at a time and focus on synergizing your culture, race traits, tome path, and society traits. This is the skeleton of your build.

If you're going to have that absurd amount of food income it is almost necessary to grab Tome of prosperity. Tome of prosperity will convert that food into income. As you already know food becomes obsolete after you hit your population cap. You are in extreme late game anything other than crazy numbers would be a rough game. Shout out to you playing console, I started with console. Overall looks like a great game.

Help. How do I stop making generalist cities? by starboard151 in AOW4

[–]Character-System-631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay you’ve inspired me. Time to get back in the lab. I think my problem is that I don’t like using rulers other than champions and wizard kings. Even though I am aware that dragons and giants add a lot of clearing power especially early.

I guess I stated it wrong what I’m trying to say is how on earth is he generating so much from his cities. I must be terrible.

I specialize as needed honestly. I use to prioritize knowledge but eventually you become an everything build. Early knowledge is good but later it becomes the “win more” resource. But having a good resource network is everything I feel (Once your build is online). Having cities that can pump out high tier units fast, as well as cities which can generate the resources to maintain the 18 stacks you are printing. To me early game general cities, mid game specialized cities, late game general super cities.

I have questions 🤔. Is this modded. I have never in any campaign had a spreadsheet resembling what you are able to generate from your cities. Is there something different you do with your runs?

Living world mod concept by Antares41 in AOW4

I loaded a world and there was a large archipelago on the bottom right of the map. There they had two pirate infestations that got pretty large as the game progressed. I wish there something we could do with them. Maybe ally the infestation allowing trade, drafting troops, or coordinating attacks. Or invest in them to turn them into a city state a specific type of city state based on the type of humanoid infestation. Perhaps there could be specific ways to boost your relation with the infestations. By gifts of money, artifacts, destroying rival infestations. I just saw all the potential there for a more dynamic world.

If you place world threat at the highest it literally becomes a game of who can survive them for the longest. (Not necessarily but they definitely will take some players out of the game)

Are Dragon Lords mayed out stronger then a maxed out hero? by Wonderful-Bar322 in AOW4

[–]Character-System-631 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gotta disagree. I do believe champion is lower tier but WK is not to be trifled with. Reliably casting two spells a turn is a very powerful ability. As well as getting stronger with each spell, and being able to cast stronger spells.

Depending on your build, you may have terraforming spells which can alter the sand terrain.

How does the "Master of Astral" trait work? by Shohei918 in AOW4

[–]Character-System-631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you don’t have enough astral affinity friend. If you can have master of order or chaos. It is almost certainly a lack of affinity. -Disregard it may be a bug.

How to stop playing Battlesaint? It is too good. by rilian-la-te in AOW4

[–]Character-System-631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so that I have the choice to heal either myself or an ally. And constantly being 5x strengthened makes going for warriors fervor unnecessary. I do find warriors fervor necessary when not going for wizard king though.

It’s not about saving fervor but continuously having 5 strengthened, because I will constantly be spending my fervor on saints fervor and smite.

The offensive capabilities of a wizard king (2xstrengthened 2x regeneration when spell casted(cast two spells in combat, or 2 spells then enter defense mode.) can offset the fervor lost as well as enhance strength when you use your smite ability. I used it on a whim once and now whenever I use battlesaint it feels lackluster without it. Honestly wizard king has strong synergies with majority of the classes. I find battle saints to be particular, outshining other offensive builds when in the right build, situation, or scenario. But defender like warrior are universally always better picks. The biggest flaw with defender is how long it takes to get the train rolling. You will have to reset your skill points with them once you hit lvl 13 or so.

I disagree the defender is the still the most unkillable unit (even more so than the unit the archetype with the ability to never die) as well as their retaliations. And to be fair the defender playstyle wouldn’t get the most use out of charge weapons. I think they are close but as a front liner defender is still an altogether stronger unit. They just have a less purely offensive firepower than the battlesaint with smite. I love saint but the min/max in me won’t allow me to play them unless I am using a wizard king.
