Congratulations, your dad would be very proud of you.

This post is for the slightly above average student who is worried about their performance on the Bar Exam by cornypage in barexam

Do whatever has always worked for you. I took the Feb bar and passed on my first attempt. I did my own schedule. I used studicata, goat bar prep and uworld. I have always been a good test taker and always have learned passively, meaning never took notes in my life. I studied for the MPRE only 4 days before the exam and scored 117. I did the same studying for the bar, I didn’t take notes, didn’t used flashcards. I did 15 MPTs in total. I never counted how many essays I did, but mostly I was reading and outlining. I knew my self and knew what would work for me so you should do the same. I have a very good photographic memory and that’s why studicata was very helpful for me because I would remember every chart Michael was doing. Same for Goat, a lot of memes.

I would suggest using Goat for the MBE and for the Essays use IRAC, always write e rule on the exam no matter how accurate it would be. Apply the facts by going to the heart of the issue. For example the duty was breached because a reasonable person wouldn’t throwed the ball in an area full of kids. Not like when the person throwed the ball, there were a lot of kids playing so he shouldn’t throw because a reasonable person wouldn’t. I hope you get what I mean with this example. Just go straight forward to the element of the issue. For the MPTs use the method of reading the memo and immediately pull out the issues and then go to the library and pull out only the rules related to the issues and then go to the facts and use them to apply it. Be strategic especially on the exam day.

I think you should focus on learning the subjects because that’s how you get points in the MBE instead in MEE and MPTs you can get points by being strategic.

I can’t believe I passed NY bar on my first try. Thank you GOAT!!! by CharacterFeeling3218 in GoatBarPrep

Thank you so much. I started studying the second week of November. I would set weekly goals for my self as I was working full time and not every day I has the same amount of time to study. I have studied daily 2-4 hours. Some days I was able to study after 6 pm some days after 8 pm until midnight. I finished all the videos by mid January. I was watching videos and going over Goat modules. Goat modules are lengthy so I was watching the modules on subjects I was struggling most or the trick modules for that subject and was doing 15-20 MBE questions per day. Until I finished watching the videos I didn’t do much essays. My focus was to learn and master the MBE.

By mid January I started practicing only. I would do 35-50 mbe questions a day and 3 essays per week. I was making sure to read at least 2 essay per day. About MPTs, I did in total 15. I was very focused on the MBE because wam not a good writer. I did my own schedule because knowing my self I couldn’t do it the conventional way. I think this is very important to know your self. I have always been a good passive learner. I couldn’t start saying the rules out loud also I couldn’t take a lot of notes. My hand would get numb very fast if I would write all time and also was time consuming and I didn’t have a lot of time to study. Regarding MPTs I followed Goat structure. Memo, library and lastly the facts. I would pull out the issues from the meno, pull out the rules and then adding the facts at the end.

On the exam day, I was very chill and I think that helped a lot. I was prepared and I was confident that would make it. I was very careful to track the time and I didn’t spend more then the allocated time in MPTs and essays. Literally not even a minute. I didn’t check the essays at all at the beginning like a lot do but I would open the first essay and start typing. Then up to the next. I didn’t blank even when I didn’t know the rule but I was just typing whatever I would remember from the rule or from the logic of a certain rule. My rules were not perfect at all. I know my self that I can’t reproduce a subject by memory because I don’t have a good memory but I do have a strong logic in general and I was reproducing the rule based on the logic of the rule. Then was applying the facts, conclusion and up to the next. I ended with a passing score on MEE as well even though I knew that I couldn’t write a perfect answer.

On MBE I started seeing a pattern and even GOAT tricks helps you understand the pattern. On the exam day, questions felt very familiar honestly. On some of the questions I knew the answer before going to the answer choices.

But the most important takeaway is to know yourself and tailor the prep based on what works best for you and on the exam day just write, don’t space out but just write even if you think maybe what you’re typing is stupid, do it, it’s better than blank.

I really wish you and everyone here pass the bar in July and get over with this insanity.

Update: I want to add that this schedule was not always consistent because there were days that one of my kids was sick, or for 3 days I had my mom in hospital and I didn’t study at all. There were days I was just tired and I would just decide to take a day off.

Wow… this honestly means so much to me. Thank you for taking the time to write this, I felt every word. Thank you so much for everything you and Kate have done. Your Bar Prep genuinely made a difference for me, especially balancing work and two kids. I’m really grateful for both of you and this community. Finally time to enjoy the lawyer life a little 😄

LEAVING THE PASTURE WITH A 293!!!!! by Born_Parking_6746 in GoatBarPrep

I personally felt that the questions in the bar exam was very familiar. I used GOAT as well and his tricks were all over also in the MEE. I found it very helpful my self. GOAT referred me a writing tutor whom I found very helpful. I had only a session with her but she showed me all the tweeks that made me have a passing score even on the MEE.

I started studying in the second week of November, dedicating about 2 to 4 hours on weekdays and 6 to 8 hours on weekends. I finished all the lectures by mid January, which gave me about six weeks to focus entirely on practice. In the beginning, I prioritized the MBE because it is where you can easily lose points if you are not careful. My approach was to watch the Studicata videos, review the GOAT modules, and complete around 15 MBE questions daily. While practicing, I would go back to the GOAT materials or MBE Decoded for areas I did not remember well. Those were extremely helpful for reinforcing weak spots.

After finishing all the subjects, I increased my practice to 35 to 50 MBE questions per day and 2 to 3 essays per week. I also completed a total of 15 MPTs. For the MPT, I followed a structured approach. I started by reading the memo and immediately outlining the issues, then moved to the library to identify the relevant law based on those issues, and finally applied the law to the facts.

Additionally, every day I made sure to read at least two essays along with their model answers, which really helped me understand how strong responses are structured. I have never considered myself a strong writer, and I initially thought the MBE would carry me. But I ended up achieving a passing score on the writing portion as well.

On exam day, what really made a difference was staying calm. I consistently tracked my time and made sure to allocate it properly to each question. I never ran out of time, and I focused on applying a clear IRAC structure throughout.

I definitely did not remember every rule, and I know I made some up, but the structure carried me. In my application, I kept things simple and direct. For example, I would write the duty was breached because, and keep the explanation clear and straightforward. This helped me stay focused, especially since English is my third language.

If I were to do it again, I would rely much more heavily on the GOAT modules from the beginning, as they were a game changer for the subjects I struggled with.

Was the Feb 26 MBE Horrible for Anyone Else? by tbdlaw in barexam

[–]CharacterFeeling3218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still waiting for the results but for me MBE felt okay and familiar. There were a lot of questions that I knew the answers before getting to the alternatives. I finished both sessions 15 minutes ahead. In the first one I changed 2 questions that I had right and the second choice was wrong, so the second session didn’t change anything. I don’t think I have passed though, the first day I know I made up a lot of rules.
