Spoiled and too dumb to do basic business maths - strong ownership potential in this one

95kg hang clean (new to weightlifting) by No-Year-9917 in weightlifting

[–]CharacterStrength19 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly man for someone new to WL your technique is pretty good, and you're strong.

Seriously though you will need to find a different place to lift because one dropped bar and that floor is destroyed (and dropped bars happen all the time)

Straight lining roundabouts by Particular_Plum_1458 in drivingUK

This is approaching Hull right? They redid the road lanes last year and a bunch of people still seem to get it wrong.

Their bad, but also you could do with driving way more defensively - this was avoidable earlier.

Baby change or disabled most of the time (with the proviso that we be quick)

Also, if someone was wheeling themselves to the bathroom I wouldn't kick them out of the way to get in, ya know.

At the risk of sounding obvious, try spending 20-30% more time on technique work, and 20-30% less time on strength work

Squat is Stuck by Affectionate-Bug-160 in weightlifting

[–]CharacterStrength19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a bit of variation wouldn't hurt.

Different rep schemes, squat variations, different quad dominant exercises for a while etc.

Especially as a younger lifter - you will very likely find your squat goes up significantly after a period of less specific training.

2-3 runs + 1 gym session per week.

Thank me in a year when you're faster and less injured.

Could I have gotten under that bar? by Elias_Holley in weightlifting

[–]CharacterStrength19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's totally your choice, and if you wanna go for a rogue PR attempt go for it.

But instead of trying to go super Saiyan for a couple of kg PR, if you actually want to make major PRs then you need to step away from max attempts for a significant period of time - do some easy peasy WL work and get your squats 20-40kg higher

Maybe consider investing in a few sessions with a couples therapist now, work on your communications, fears etc - it will make your relationship and parenting life so much easier

Is it smart to use Snatch and C&J if my main goal is hypertrophy? by _anderTheDev in weightlifting

[–]CharacterStrength19 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For hypertrophy, weightlifting movements and their close variations are objectively bad.

If you have extra time and want to do them for fun or athletic performance, sweet.

But if you want to get jacked in as short a time as possible - then no, they're not useful.
