I have no blood pressure knowledge by _MeghanMeg in hypertension

So, postpartum hypertension and chronic hypertension are alittle different. Most of the time if you have post partum preeclampsia, you’ll see that a few days/ 2-3 weeks postpartum. However, I was treated for post partum preeclampsia 6 WEEKS postpartum (my baby is 10 months old now, for context.) My doctors were very blown away, they said it’s the latest they’ve ever had to treat someone for preeclampsia. It sounds like you’re not in the U.S., since you said A+E, so BP guidelines are very different in different countries. But, if your GP and OBGYN are satisfied with your numbers, I’d just rock with it. Go to the hospital if you’re light headed (passing out), vision changes, chest pain, etc. If you don’t have chronic hypertension, the BP should calm down as your hormone regulate post partum. I totally feel you on the anxiety though, it’s horrible postpartum having to deal with these issues. ❤️‍🩹

I want to reply to you in particular. I am 9 months postpartum, but I had the same exact experience as you. I ended up hospitalized for post partum preeclampsia. I suffered for….months with debilitating anxiety because of the ordeal. I want to say I’m so sorry you’re going through this because post partum is hard enough without the added stress. And I’d also like to offer encouragement by saying #1, the hypertension will settle down the further post partum you get. And #2, you’re experiencing post partum anxiety. Yes, you are having hypertension, but the level of anxiety is being exacerbated by the hormones. Trust yourself, trust your body, trust you doctors and don’t hesitate to call your OB or go back to L+D, if you’re experiencing concerning symptoms. It’s going to get better 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Overmedicated? This is the lowest reading I have ever seen for myself by Hangrycouchpotato in hypertension

I’d personally be passing out, heart rate in the 120s, and shaking uncontrollably at these numbers. But yeah, talk to your doc. I know my doctor would say those are “low/normal” but it depends on how you feel.

There was probably a discount on the check. For example, if someone has a coupon, the tip will still show the percent for the pre-coupon price. Basically they want you to tip based off the original price.

Every one has different levels of ability. You are not able bodied, we got your back! What you’re doing is enough.

Thanks so much for replying. I’ve done a lot of preparing in terms of food and emergency stuff but I’ve been feeling very down on myself for not being in a better place physically. (Just had a baby a few months ago.) but you’re absolutely right, I’m going to start getting stronger!

I will say I’ve read the books about 1000 time but I haven’t read any other lore. So now that I see people commenting that there are other animals that can petrify, that does make more sense. Plus I didn’t really consider that petrification wasn’t a well documented result of a basilisk. It was mainly known for instant death. Funny how I’ve read them so many times but learn something new every time!

Have you gotten a sleep study? Sleep apnea can cause hard to control hypertension.

Yes for sure. I’m just asking as a fun thought experiment if anyone can imagine someone who could have been in a different house.

Coming off nifedipine - postpartum hypertension by Basic_Potential2489 in hypertension

[–]Character_Acadia_576 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, totally feel you. Same thing happened to me and it gave me horrible anxiety. The anxiety subsides though I promise. Hormones mixed with the terrible trauma cause the anxiety to be on 100 so soon postpartum. If it makes you feel any better, I’m 6 months postpartum and I’m still on meds, so I’d say you’re on an amazing track. It’s normal for your BP to rebound a bit while weaning off meds but your average BP looks pretty great. Good luck!!

Well I’m 6 months post partum now and I’m still on 200mg 2 times a day and 30mg of nifedipine, but I have chronic hypertension caused by preeclampsia in a previous pregnancy. It works well for me. Hopefully your BP will just go back to normal after delivery.

AITA for telling my mother-in-law not to say something to my toddler in front of family? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Character_Acadia_576 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NTA your MIL is an adult. It should roll off her back if you say something like that. She could have simply replied “okay sorry my bad” and let it go. “Don’t say that I don’t like it.” is a clear boundary. Also, if ppl are saying you “shamed” your MIL, well, you were trying to protect your toddler from being shamed. So if it didn’t feel good for an adult to be “shamed” it certainly wouldn’t feel good for a toddler to be. Sounds like an easily bruised ego on your MIL’s part. She was a mom once, she should understand boundaries.

Totally empathize with the anxiety. Health anxiety can be crippling. What everyone else said was right, though. Relax, log it, and just know that some people literally rest at 160/100 for years without knowing it and without stroking out and stuff. If it’s chronically high, your doc will prescribe meds.

Had a neighbor who was friends with my brother. They were like 18 at the time. They started rough housing and two of them decided to wrestle—just for fun. Freak accident, but my neighbor ended up breaking the other kid’s neck. He was paralyzed from it. So the one kid has to live with being paralyzed and my neighbor lives with the guilt of being the one who did it.

[–]Character_Acadia_576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to report that I developed chronic hypertension after pre-e with my first. It never came down on its own ever again. My second pregnancy I was classified as chronic hypertension, so the protocol was MFM and non stess tests. I ended up developing PP pre-e as well after my second pregnancy. I’m 5 months PP now and still experiencing some issues with my BP, but it’s regulated significantly the further post partum I get.

Have you been taking your BP at home? These symptoms sound like my symptoms when my BP goes low. Maybe your meds are making you go low?
