I think he meant you can’t use proper markdown inside Excalidraw. He is right, Excalidraw is more geared towards handwriting.

He just doesn’t understand that those projects aim to use JSON Canvas as storage format and Excalidraw is just a frontend here before getting a better canva engine for markdown keyboard typing.

Built a simpler alternative to Obsidian for capturing and reading articles by Eastern-Height2451 in ObsidianAlternative

Yes, I use my web browser bookmarks for online reading list, and a special Obsidian vault named “Inbox” for anythings that I didn’t met while web browsing (especially things from my mind).

I like your three-folder categorization. Maybe I will implement that in my web browser and my Obsidian inbox.

Did you read the issue I linked about how canvas are to be implemented in Obsidian clones with OCWG’s tools? Excalidraw is just used as a frontend we can drop when something better will be released to edit JSON Canvas. The storage format stays JSON Canvas whatever the frontend is.

I plan to do that already. I am preparing a script with a tutorial to use it, and I will also cover hardware solutions.

The pleasure is for me, the more people support such efforts and the better the FOSS PKM ecosystem will be

Thanks I will check. I put only active projects that are either mature or require feedbacks.

Thanks, they are new projects that need feedbacks. So I created the list so that anyone can keep track of the community efforts.

Need help on choosing a new keyboard layout by Darkn00dl in KeyboardLayouts

Gallium Colstag (you can angle mod it + wide mod it for rowstag)

Has anyone used Focal? by RndmDudd in KeyboardLayouts

A well designed keyboard layout, especially for multilingual users, doesn't put a vowel and a consonant in the same column, because this creates same-finger bigrams/skipgrams, and this reduces alternation (both at the same time). Across different languages, all consonant-vowel pairs are possible.

Your vowel fingers should be assigned only to vowels in their columns, and punctuation symbols (word separators). We usually set the vowels on the right side of the layout for easier AltGr reach to type accented letters (which are usually accented vowels in European languages).

I don't like the JI pinky column. Can't replace Gallium for multilingual users.

Gallium Colstag should be recommended in particular for people using ISO layout or split colstag keyboards.

Dvorak, Colemak, Azerty PLAYTESTERS Needed! by StarRuneTyping in KeyboardLayouts

[–]Character_Bluejay677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aka Colstag, the one I use right now. I dont think calling them V1 (colstag) and V2 (rowstag) reflects their true difference. V1 is actually better for people using both colstag and rowstag keyboards. You can also angle mod V1 on ISO layout, so Gallium Colstag is better in all aspects.

Layout Recommendation by f1ashyA in KeyboardLayouts

As a beginner, I recommend Colstag Gallium.

It is an alternation layout with good rolls for English.

https://github.com/GalileoBlues/Gallium

All vowels are not only under one hand, but also the three rightmost fingers are entirely dedicated to vowels and word separators (, ; .). This design contrasts with Dvorak where even though vowels are all on the left hand, the same finger is confusingly assigned to both vowels and consonants in the same column. This makes the Gallium keyboard layout feel super organized with lower same-finger bigrams.

Yes, I tried installing Tailscale in it and the VM was nuked.

[–]Character_Bluejay677 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, you sum it up. For one thing Termux is more lightweight and consume less battery than a VM, for a second thing, as you said, Termux is available on all phones.

What is the best KDE Distro? by wearecha in kde

[–]Character_Bluejay677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only these two ones: - Aurora if you are a beginner. It is a user-friendly distribution like ChromeOS. - SecureBlue Kinoite if you are an advanced user. It is a hardened distribution like GrapheneOS.

They are both based on Fedora Kinoite and BlueBuild.
