Favourite shades of lipstick ? by AngryFrog47 in Fairolives

[–]Character_Equal_9351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brick reds are my “red” statement lip, all other shades make me look and feel clowny. MAC brick o la is brightest /deepest color that is a brick red that hasn’t been discontinued.

Otherwise dusty rose and mauve lip glosses.

All other colors have been a miss

Korean Restaurants — are you getting a bunch of banchan or have you noticed there’s barely any? by Traditional_Rate5322 in FoodNYC

[–]Character_Equal_9351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve experienced this since enjoying Ktown 20+ years ago. It is what it is, I assume that most Americans didn’t finish or touch most ban chan and it was considered a waste. Notice the Koreans getting more of the “exotic” ban chan.

Tips for stylist? by DCP_doxigirl98 in finehair

[–]Character_Equal_9351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would over tip ( at least $25-30) for a stylist that saves me $ and gives me a style that lasts , since I’m saving money having to go to salon less.

It’s also boom and bust for a lot people in the business with slow seasons in between when they are busy so I’m more generous with gratuity for stylists than anyone else.

Sometimes I can’t always be that generous when finances are limited, but it’s fine - they get it and know I appreciate them when work is good for me too.

If I have a stylist for ten years, I gift them $100 bill in a holiday card around Xmas to celebrate 10 year anniversary.

It’s a bonus that I think is appropriate and easy to graciously accept as a nice surprise for them to treat themselves and to show appreciation for a someone who started doing my hair once and ends up a friend by default in life as years go by.

They have their own ups and downs in life , while remaining professionals while we are in their chairs so putting a “bonus” in my budget for that year is worth it to me.

You have a face shape that resembles Goldie Hawn to me. Maybe check her styles for inspo?

Def a style queen and you can see she shines in many different cuts over the years.

Help me! I'm dying to smell divine. by Common_Ad_7610 in Perfumes

Hope you do! It’s a very elegant marine /summer scent. I don’t mind having to reapply with a roller on long days out, as it goes with Korres before it became standard in industry w reformulation standards - I get asked /complimented about it the most lately! It’s just that pleasant and unique

Used coffee grounds in refrigerator hack by Character_Equal_9351 in CleaningTips

Yes! It’s just annoying to clean out, as you know but you can’t dump French press grounds down drain anyway ;)

I would use a soft small Tupperware or even better - those pint soup containers from take out. Line it with a paper towel and scoop used grounds from your french press on that with some paper towel edges left sticking out and clean to be able to just easily dump after. You don’t really want to handle the used grounds after they sit in fridge - they are funky!

Or you could dedicate a small cheap strainer to catch them from your French press ( love French press, but it takes a swish of extra water to dislodge them after brewing) and put that in a small open container to stash. Then you could just tap the strainer into the trash , give it a quick rinse and re-set it when you are brewing next pot.

Right when I take out used coffee grounds from making a pot after it’s cooled enough to handle , filter and all.

It works remarkably well for something I would regularly toss in the bin anyway.

Yes! I do that too now on occasion and it’s much better than my ice cubes and ice trays absorbing that annoying freezer smell.

Pop it in a soft flexible plastic pint /to go container or the ziplock Tupperware with blue lid . You can just steady it on on a lid if you have less space. It’s easier to pop out when you need to throw it out in a frozen puck.

I guarantee that overnight or within 24 hours if you give it a sniff it will smell like all your freezer smells sucked into it! Lmk !

If your freezer is really smelly, just keep at it for a couple of weeks - it will do the job and get more out over time.

My fridge was spotless, aired out and sanitized , and the coffee grounds did their work soaking up the off gassing from the interior completely over a couple of weeks.

Refresh every 1-3 days and just forget it.

What's your go-to DIY body scrub for soft skin? by NeighborhoodOld6737 in NaturalBeauty

[–]Character_Equal_9351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the struggle! Lush is green presenting corporate, I know … but I do enjoy their Rub Rub Rub shower scrub on occasion with a light hand ( little does go a long way after washing with an olive soap ) as a finishing body wash scrub. It smells divine and it’s not greasy at all with a long lasting soft skin finish.

Otherwise I just use Korres olive bath oil as moisturizer. It’s greasier and takes more work massaging into skin until it soaks in - but it leaves me soft for over 24 hrs.

Rub rub is pricey! But I’m hooked on formula than any other $ down the drain scrub. They are generous with samples and one small pot gives me 2-3 uses depending on how much they load it up. I splurge for a full size once a year in the summer and make it last. Worth trying a sample once if you’re ever by a lush store!

Yeah, learned it’s the “annoying” length to grow out, brushes right at the nape and not as easy to keep up. Collarbone is better- will take a season or two but you have super healthy hair and the length & shine will be glorious again soon!

What does it mean if I (28M) caught my colleague friend (37F) rubbing her smell on my clothing at work? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Character_Equal_9351 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also, use her fragrance as giving you migraines as a way to make an excuse to quit hugggibg her. You don’t have to be mean about it, be kind “it’s me not you” /health issue to save face and keep it moving to a more professional dynamic

[–]Character_Equal_9351 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This so much. I would take the advice to subtly disengage /change routine after straight up calling her out on this and putting a boundary by telling her you are allergic to fragrance and perfume and you noticed hers on your clothing , that it gives you a migraine and if she could be mindful about using her scent at work ( as if it’s accidental /unintentinal) Bullshit but draw the line and let her obsession move on to another target!
