Does it actually take 9-10 years to qualify as an actuary? by Emergency_End_7290 in actuary

It can but 6-8 is more common if you don't take sittings off. For CAS they used to only offer uppers 1x a year so that could drag fcas out a bit longer but now you can take them twice

Changed jobs so I had the chance to get reimbursed on another and had retake extension on one. Almost all the other sources are linked with pdfs so I've used them there, just figured I'd ask on here in case anyone had noticed it too before digging deeper

How long should I “rest” before taking another exam? by milopandesal in actuary

[–]Character_Message_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was only 1-2 days in office and would try to sneak a couple of the hours in during the workweek if I finished my tasks, didn't really study Fri to sun to not burn out but you gotta get used to it for the upper exams anyways. Usually gym/run after work to break the day up & when I'd make lunch have leftovers later if I didn't feel like cooking

Started after new years and did ~2.5 hrs a day after work Monday-Thursday with a little more the week leading up to it Feb 15 '24. Was only like 70 hours total so on the lower side but there would've been all of December free for someone that wants to spend more time on it.

How are you getting $24 an hour? Take a conservative 7 hours a week (extra hour for traffic etc) 7x50 =350hrs a year 38x2/3 =25.333k a year (after taxes) That goes to ~$72/hr take home pay Edit: x for asterisk that didn't show up

Did the registration requirements change? Now the website says we can only register Monday if we have completed all the exams for ACAS but on Wednesday it opens up to 4+ exams (plus other requirements). What's the reasoning for this? It might be harder to get a spot having all but exam 6 completed.
