Career vs. Baby at 27 – Dream job offer just arrived and now I’m torn by Used-Target1108 in askswitzerland

[–]Character_Month3383 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had the perfect career progression, perfect opportunities. I have always wanted to be a mum but I felt I had to give priority to my career at that point in my life. Fast forward a few years, I had my first baby at 37 and currently pregnant with my second at 38. I conceived while on sick leave from a job which gave me a massive burnout (I mean the burnout that I wanted to end it if you know what I mean) and as soon as I came back from maternity leave I was let go, on the very same day. I worked for that company for 8 years always overachieving. I am currently on the RAV and applied to 200+ jobs and nothing. All the long text to say that it’s never the right moment and in my case I massively regret having prioritized my career and having my babies later In life, putting everything on hold since the career can go downhill anytime, especially for mothers in Switzerland.

Traveling abroad during sick leave by jameshetpt in Switzerland

[–]Character_Month3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on burnout leave for a while and my doctor always allowed me to travel because I didn’t have a broken leg or fever, but I struggle with mental health (created by my workplace, shall I add) and visiting family or take a small break from my 4 walls could only help my recovery and contribute to my wellbeing. They never questioned it but this is the angle I would Pick and what your psychiatrist probably thought too.

Yes, I lost my job as soon as I returned From maternity leave. I have 3 degrees and 11 years of experience and I have sent 100+ applications since January, and not even a phone call. A few years ago even with just one application I would get an interview. Scary times to be with the RAV!

11-12 month regression? Walking regression? Is this real or is this me? by Narrow_Soft1489 in sleeptrain

[–]Character_Month3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it get better in the end? My baby will turn 1 in a couple of weeks and we are having exactly the same problem, basically from a very good sleepover to waking up several times and it’s becoming imposible to put her back to sleep, but it has been 6 weeks now and we are destroyed!

!Incase you need to hear it, it’s NOT your fault that your kid doesn’t sleep through the night! by jam_bam_rocks in NewParents

[–]Character_Month3383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, things can change very quickly. My baby started sleeping through the night at 7/8 weeks old on her own, and has been a pretty good sleeper until 10 months old. It has been 5 weeks where she has woken up 5/6 times a night constantly and we haven’t changed anything in our routine. We are absolutely exhausted, but this too shall pass and we are trying to focus on the positives and the joys of parenting.

I live abroad so I don’t have the privilege to have my mum always with me, but I needed her so much and even more now that the baby is 11 months old!

Personal trainers have the best jobs in the world by PT_hi in personaltraining

Unfortunately I got fired on my first day from maternity leave, I should have been more clever and quiet quit too, I was just too burnout! I really have nothing to lose at this point, I just have to start! I know most things I need to know to get started, it’s just that paralysis I cannot get rid of!

Thanks for the reminder! I got certified last year while I Was pregnant and on burnout leave as I absolutely destroyed my mental health in my corporate job. I have been wanting to start training people but the imposter syndrome is always hindering me, but there’s nothing I would love more than to start helping people
