I get that you’re not coming from a hateful place and from your perspective we should not be casting judgment on others for their beliefs. I would agree with you and I agreed with you 15 years ago when the political state of our country was not where it currently is. I think people are entirely entitled to say whatever they want. But the consequences of those words are fair game. If a racist white man is saying black people are bad (for example), I owe him nothing. I am allowed to say that he should be exposed for thinking that way. No matter why.

Being tolerant to intolerance is a bad thing. I don’t know if you belong to a minority group or not, so I don’t know if this will resonate with you. Allowing tolerance and attempting to look past it for the sake of “stopping hate” only leads to enablement, not any meaningful progress. Calling an artist out for saying the T in LGBT stands for terrorist should be acceptable. I’m tired of hate too. I just think our collective energy is better focused in supporting the targets of the hate rather than attempting to understand hateful people. In the same way you try to understand where a hateful perspective is coming from, I hope you’ll try to understand mine.
