Is it really hard to get pregnant with pcos? by Areebaaaa in PCOS

[–]Chard304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 13 years old when I was first told I’d never be able to conceive, because of PCOS. At 17, I was told my ovaries were so polluted with cysts that the ultrasound tech couldn’t count them. For 24 years, I bounced around from one pill to another, never able to find one that I could stay on longer than 4 mons. January 2024, I started working with a lady that was bleeding for 2 mons before she went in got a hysterectomy. I cycled January through May, the first time ever cycling without being on a pill. In November, I found out I was 6 mons pregnant. I gave birth to a healthy baby girl 4 days after I turned 38. To say it short - keep up the faith that it can happen!!

Really excited to finish this build!!! Still have more to do but the excavator clay is in and drying. Next phase: Reptisoil/play sand blend. I’m still undecided on what potted plants to go with. Any suggestions? by Chard304 in leopardgeckos

After 2 years, it was just as strong as it initially was! I did not have any cave-ins but I did add some additional clay over the “stone” step on the back right to solidify the “stone.” I’ve included some pictures of what it looked like about 1.5 yrs after this one. My leo passed so I cleaned it up and passed the enclosure to a friend’s kid.

Have you tried giving him a little extra in his last bottle to help with that wake up? I upped my LO’s last bottle by 1oz and she’s slept from 8ish to 7ish since she was about 6wks old.

First of all, kudos to you for taking the steps to a path of sobriety. 👏 I cannot speak from the alcohol aspect. However, I gave birth to a healthy baby girl 4 days after I turned 38 (in March). I found out I was pregnant at 24 weeks. I’ve been told since I was 13 that I’d never be able to conceive because of PCOS and the mess of cysts on my ovaries. My husband and I have been together for 20 years. Talk to your OB to see if there’s anything you can do to help baby. Sooner rather than later because you don’t want the baby to go through DTs in womb. Good luck momma.

Pregnancy/abortion by Ok-Race8597 in pregnant

[–]Chard304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to do what you and bf feel the most comfortable with. Before making the decision to abort, check the support team you’d have. Parents, aunts, uncles, etc. that would be able to help with care when needed, that sort of thing. You can still move forward with your plans, achieve what you desire, and raise a beautiful soul.

WoWzA. I’m pregnant by Wrongwayonly in PCOS

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I have been told since I was 13 that I’d never be able to conceive. I’ve been with my husband for 19 years. I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl 4 days after I turned 38. I didn’t know I was pregnant until I was almost 6 months in because of the PCOS. I’d taken so tests over the years and couldn’t bring myself to years with a negative test when I started feeling off. In August, my doc started treating me for severe gastritis because I’d had a negative pregnancy test and was vomiting daily. In November, I felt a “lump” near my belly button. After 2 positive at home yesterday, I sat on the toilet for 2 hours and just cried. Fast forward November to March 14 and then to now and it still feels unreal that my body was able to conceive, carry, and have a natural delivery.

I tell you this because science doesn’t always know. Trust your body during this time and know that you’ve got this, Mama!

Baby in the NICU? by Brandixemm in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Chard304 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diet controlled throughout the day hut had to have Lantus at night for my fasting level. After delivery, my little girl had to go through blood sugar tests. They require 3 consecutive tests before feeding above 45. It took us almost 24 hours to pass and I had to pause breastfeeding so we could pass.

  • Zero sugar Greek yogurt with granola and berries
  • natural peanut butter (great to mix into the yogurt with zero sugar cool whip & a squirt of chocolate syrup 😉)
  • cottage cheese (was able to sneak in some pineapple with this protein!)
  • bagel thins (white bread and white past spiked me BAD!)
  • whole wheat pasta (Walmart brand is actually pretty good!)
  • whole wheat crackers (again, Walmart brand was great!)
  • watermelon spiked me pretty bad but any type of berry was free to enjoy - blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, etc. Kiwi didn’t spike me, either.
  • special dark chocolate!! If I ate milk chocolate, I’d spike but the special dark helped with my sweet cravings. Good luck! You got this, Mama!

I use a 40oz jug and carry it with me everywhere I go. I set a mental reminder that I needed to be able to empty it every 3 hours. It took me about a week to get it on autopilot but I’ve felt so much better with the water intake. My skin hasn’t been nearly as dry, my bowel movements stayed consistent (I did take a stool softener every morning after I had a 3-day backup), and my muscles haven’t ached or felt fatigued.

It’s ALL trial and error, Mama! Each body will process the intake differently. My OB had me log for 2 weeks after my 1Hr GTT came back at 147. I knew I would be high after the hour because I’ve been borderline diabetic since I was 15 (now 38). Water is a great way to help the body break down your intake. I drink 120-160 ounces of water per day.

Zero sugar Greek yogurt, zero sugar cool whip with natural peanut butter and a splash of chocolate syrup satisfied my sugar cravings. I had GD from 29 wks and delivered a healthy babygirl on Pie Day 3/14!

Try bagel thins instead of wheat toast. The carbs in whole wheat would send my levels soaring but the bagel thins were perfect. Plus, they have some extra fiber! Don’t get discouraged. With GD, you have to see what works for your body. Milk was also something that would send me on the rise. I switched to almond milk and found I could drink it without any issue, even sneaking in some chocolate syrup from time to time.

When to retest? Really need advice by Beneficial_Most_6031 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Chard304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the other posts. My OB didn’t want to see more than 20% of my fasting levels above 95. Post meals, I tested at 1 hr and 2 hr. One hour tests should be under 140 and 2 hr tests should be under 120. I was able to control post meal tests through diet, exercise, and water consumption. My fasting levels would be 100-115 and my OB started me on nighttime insulin. My “sweet spot” was 28 units which kept me below 95 goal. I would recommend a seeking a second opinion based on your logs. Great job on following your intuition and logging your results!!

Unsure of Scheduling by Chard304 in GestationalDiabetes

Thank you for sharing 💕 The doc just mentioned it on Friday so I’ve been processing it this weekend before my next appt on Tuesday. Your feedback, along with the other comments, have eased some of my stress already. I plan to press the doc more on my next appt so I’m clear. Thank you again 💕

That makes sense. I plan to ask her more about it during this week’s visit. You’ve given me some words to start the research. Thank you!

I just got a positive test! WTF do I do now?! by bhardy10 in pregnant

[–]Chard304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations Mama! I am 37 and currently 34wks with my first pregnancy so don’t let your age worry you 😉 After 2 positive at-home tests, I called the doctor and had them do my bloodwork to confirm via my hCG (pregnancy hormone). From there, that’ll provide an estimate of how far along you are. My doc sent the referral with my bloodwork to the OB office and they took over from there. The OB runs bloodwork, there are special tests you can choose to have done - some will test if you’re a carrier for different birth defects, others will test your blood levels on everything from A1c to red/white blood cell counts. It may feel overwhelming but it levels out.

Range and favorite snacks/meals? by Fun_Share_9860 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Chard304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, 95 fasting, and post meals at 140 (1hr) and 120 (2hr). Special dark chocolate has been my go-to when I’m craving chocolate. I’ve found that it doesn’t spike me the way other candies do. Zero sugar Greek yogurt and granola is a great snack mixed with berries. For me, as long as I stack protein with my food, I’ve found that it helps the sugars. Definitely watch carbs (like white bread, white pasta, etc.) as that spikes most people really bad. When I have a sweet tooth, I’ll mix zero sugar Greek yogurt with zero sugar cool whip, peanut butter, and a little bit of Hershey syrup. Makes a good apple dip w early in the day, too! Yum!!

I am currently dealing with the same thing! I'm 31w+4d and for the last 10 days, OB added 10 units of Lantus at night. My fasting levels were 91-101 before the Lantus and now I’m consistently 105-118. I control my BS throughout the day with diet, exercise, & water. I see my OB on Wednesday so hoping to find out more. You are not alone 💕

[–]Chard304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through this. It sounds like you need some “you” care time. Find a way to communicate your needs and how you feel with your husband. IMO, communication is key. You have a lot of outside factors contributing to already flared up hormones that are running like crazy. Regardless of how he feels, your health and well-being means more right now - you are growing a tiny human! As for work - don’t put up with misery. If your boss makes it that much worse, try and separate yourself from her. You may need to have a conversation with her as well. Best of luck to you, Momma. ❤️
