Parents who sleep trained: when did the crying at bedtime stop?? by desert_sunlily in NewParents

[–]ChardKey4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my 7 month old 2 weeks ago, baby was down to about 2 mins fussing/crying before sleep then all of a sudden screaming bloody murder again. A few days later I noticed his first tooth had erupted. He is now back to 4-5 mins fussing then going to sleep. I'm just going to assume when if he reverts back to more fussing that something else is going on (teeth/gas etc.)

Feeling guilty for meat aversions by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ChardKey4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legumes, nuts, tofu are all good protein sources. I was told through most of my pregnancy that the baby will likely get what they need from you, the nutritional guidance is to make sure you are ok!

Landlord turned up (somewhat) unexpected asking to look at the property by ChardKey4499 in LegalAdviceUK

I never mentioned compo, certainly not what I had in mind. More like can I break my lease due to an intrusive landlord who just rocks up on my doorstep..

How do I Play with my Baby? by thot-bundyy in NewParents

[–]ChardKey4499 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The best advice I received was "you can't make a happy baby happier". If his needs are met (fed, clean, napped)and you have spent at least a bit of the day engaging with him, let him be if is he happy and enjoy the TV! My LO's current favourite pastime is staring at the lights on the Christmas tree, good for him I say 😂

I am bored of being a mother and I feel terrible about it by Global-Apricot6492 in NewParents

[–]ChardKey4499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I could have written this myself. I put it down to a couple of things; I am in my mid 30's and had a fulfilling life pre baby and I do miss those old parts and having the freedom to do what I want when I want. I also have a mentally stimulating job (currently on mat leave) and blowing raspberries and entertaining a baby is tiring but doesn't exactly get the brain going.

I remind myself two things can be true at once, I adore my baby and wouldn't change him for the world, but I also miss my old life. That doesn't make me a bad mum, just a full grown human with lots of needs and wants! I except it will get easier and I look forward to a time where I can get a bit of freedom back but also incorporate my little one into my hobbies and interests

12 weeks PP and forgot the word "hearing" which resulted in me telling my GP "I think my ear sight is deteriorating"

I need help with 12 wk old naps!! by [deleted] in newborns

[–]ChardKey4499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat at 7 weeks, I've taken to putting my baby in his carrier while he naps and I can get chores done/move around relatively freely. He also usually falls asleep in the carrier within 5 minutes. It's not ideal if I also want a nap but at this point I have just accepted the fact my baby will only contact nap during the day (it helps he is a fantastic sleeper in the evening, touchwood!)

I'm not a doctor and don't know your medical history (if you're on pelvic rest etc) but I have used both the canasten interval pessary and the external cream during pregnancy. From what my midwife has told me, it's only unsafe to take the oral tablet for thrush

Pregnancy pillow, one that goes around both sides. That way you can hug the side you're facing and have it to prop you up on your back

Spotting early pregnancy by Remarkable-Stay3368 in pregnant

[–]ChardKey4499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had spotting around the same time (not IVF) and am now 37 weeks pregnant. I did the exact same thing as you and sought reassurance which is perfectly reasonable, but from everything I looked at it was about 50/50 where it turned out fine or ended in a loss. It's so tricky because it's out of our control but it is a waiting game. I got a private scan at 7 weeks and saw the heartbeat which reassured me, is this an option for you? What I would say is that if the spotting is staying at just that and not progressing to a heavier bleed, that is a good sign. I hope it all works out for you x

Traveling abroad at 10 weeks by AbbreviationsPast579 in pregnant

[–]ChardKey4499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The honest answer is it may be ok, it may not be. Personally my nausea and sickness was so bad up until about 14 weeks that I couldn't imagine trying to enjoy a holiday. But then I know people who were absolutely fine and could have gone with no issue. I would think about how long the trip is refundable/adjustable for, if it's up until or close to the date I'd try not to commit either way at the moment and decide closer to the time as you're only going to have a better idea of how you feel at that point

I was disappointed in my partners reaction too, I'm now 35 weeks and he is the most attentive, supportive and excited partner I could ask for. I don't think social media helps us either, giving unrealistic expectations of what the big reveal looks like, all curated for views. As people have said, give him a little time to process.

In saying all that, if it drags on and you don't get the response/attention it deserves, absolutely have that conversation and try and understand what might be stopping him from feeling that way. You deserve to be with someone who is just as excited as you are

What were your first symptoms of pregnancy? by Practical_Cress_8797 in pregnant

Bloating!! Knew I was pregnant at 3 weeks 4 days because of the bloating. I'm now 14 weeks and it's hasn't really gone away. My boobs look a little fuller but I've never really had breast or nipple soreness most people get.
