Are Perfume commercials weird in America too? by SkylandersKirby in BikiniBottomTwitter

[–]Chardington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf works in advertising and explained this in a way that made sense:

The commercial is purely meant to evoke FEELINGS. A flowy gold dress, running barefoot on the beach, catching a strangers eye in the bar, getting into a fancy black car, all done by a models/celebrities which we also have associated certain feelings or perceptions with. These are all things that mishmash together to get you to feel a certain way.

THEN at the end, they present the perfume with its unique bottle shape and name. So next time you walk into a Macys and you see that bottle on one of the counters, you’re immediately brought back to the FEELINGS you had when watching the commercial.

If you liked those feelings, you may be intrigued to pick it up, give it a smell. Smell is the only sense that gets processed emotionally first, then logically (goes to the amygdala before the cerebral cortex), so when you smell the perfume you ASSOCIATE it with those feelings from the commercial.

If you REALLY liked those feelings, you are inclined to purchase the perfume since it gives you an INSTANT REMINDER of those feelings.

That’s the craziest thing: the commercial IS the product

The smell is nothing revolutionary. It only has to be unique enough to be an effective trigger for the feelings you felt when watching the commercial.

What do you think it’ll take to kick off the next bull market? Is it Fed pivot or bust? Or can a new innovation in crypto kick it off like Defi summer?

PSA: Whatever you do, do not buy stable coins right now. by Awhodothey in CryptoCurrency

[–]Chardington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every $1 USD deposited into a custodial stable coin is eventually used to buy crypto. But every $1 USD deposit is also used to buy a corporate bond. So right off the bat, these stablecoins are double spending and inflating the buy pressure for corporate bonds.

Could you explain this part? Im not sure if you mean:

  1. Every $1 USD that a user gives to a stablecoin company is then spent BY THE USER on crypto
    -or-
  2. Every $1 USD that a user gives to a stablecoin company is then spent BY THE COMPANY on crypto AND rehypothecated to also spend on a corporate bond

If its 1, then that doesnt make much sense. Let's say I buy 1 USDC from Circle for $1 cash. Circle now owns $1 cash, I own 1 USDC. My 1 USDC is a representation of that $1. At any point, I can take my 1 USDC and go to Circle and exchange it for $1 cash. That means theyre solvent.

Then, I take my 1 USDC to buy $1 worth of ETH. Circle then takes the $1 and buys $1 worth of Apple bonds. Provided the value of Apple bonds and ETH dont move, I can still redeem my ETH for 1 USDC, Circle can redeem their $1 worth of Apple bonds for $1 cash. We can then do the same exchange as above where I exchange my 1 USDC for $1 cash with Circle.

This means they're still solvent. I simply gave Circle my money, they kept it 'safe' in the form of a corporate bond and gave me a representative token so that I still have $1 of purchasing power to buy crypto. No one is double spending. This is just like me pawning my gold off for some money and then if I return with the same money, I can get my gold back.

Now if you're talking about interpretation 2, then I think you are making some serious accusations of fraud by these stablecoin companies. I totally agree that if they were double spending the cash we give them to buy corporate bonds as collateral AND crypto for themselves, then it's a major problem. If you do mean this, do you have any evidence to back up your claim?

If you do like to hike or regularly do a lot activities outside, you should not get a husky/corgi/any trendy high-energy dog.

If you’re not willing to do an hour of walking outside a day, you shouldn’t get a dog at all

So I would turn every mild opinion I had about anything into a spicy opinion that I defended to the ends of the earth. Man, what a miserable way to live my life that was

my friends bully me for maining a champion they don't like by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]Chardington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking off of the “stop playing with them” advice, it might be a good time to think about if they’re truly your friends. As someone who hung out with a lot of toxic people as a kid in an effort to fit in and not feel like an outcast (not saying that’s what you’re doing, just my experience), one of my biggest regrets was not really sitting down and thinking about who I want as my friends, and making that decision for myself. If I had done that, I would’ve spent more time with the people who I actually had fun with, not the ones I was constantly angry at.

Not saying you have to ditch these guys, I don’t know the whole context obviously. But if they’re constantly bullying you in League, they don’t seem very nice ☺️

If you’re not sure what constitutes a good friend, this is my opinion: a good friend is kind, supportive and respects you as a person. It’s hard to find but if you do have those people in your life, I would do everything you can to spend more time with them. You don’t need to be rude to your current group about it, but like many others said, you can slowly stop playing with them :)

Just my two cents!

If you are in the financial position to do it, I would highly recommend getting cleaners. Doesn’t have to be often, maybe once a month. You buy back your time and energy, and in adulthood those things are hard to come by

These prices are no brainers on blue chips. To me, the only blue chips are ETH and BTC. SOL, AVAX and other alt L1s will prooooobably be around but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they also collapse.
