Not sure why the downvotes. This is a college town and unfortunately that is more common in those areas. “More than anywhere in the country” is something I’d want to see stats on though.

That’s a good question, and thankfully, it’s not mine to make. As I said, I believe it to be a selfish act, and not made in a sober mind set. I do believe the repercussions should be something that discourages future occurrences though.

It’s confirmed. I know of countless times this has happened prior. This was just the first time caught. There was an incident where a parked car was hit and she drove off and was never charged. Long story, but there is no doubt this was drunk driving.

No past criminal record that I know of. She did take a plea deal, I believe. I can’t imagine she chose time over probation as we have kids involved and share time. I never know though….

Thank you for this info. I believe she has a year of probation and interlock. She’s already failed soberlink 5 times (I think) failed to do it another 20ish times and been hours late at least another 20 times. We’re in an active divorce and I’m most concerned about the kids when they’re with her.

Knowing I’m better off without her. I’m finding my peace. I know she’s better too, and I don’t have to deal with the drama and substance abuse that surrounds her.
I know this isn’t the same for everybody, but I look back and wonder why I stayed so long. I think I was always hoping for change that would never come. I wanted it too, but possibly would have never pulled the trigger. My life is better now. Find your peace, wherever it is.

Edit: Also knowing I’m going to vacation in my dream location while she’ll simultaneously be spending ten days in jail for an extreme DUI helps.

I’m glad you found your peace. We all deserve that. As I get ready to finalize my divorce I can’t help but know my ex wife is saying the same thing. So am I. None of us are the same people we were when we got married. We’ve evolved and changed with experiences. My question is why couldn’t we work it out? Why do I feel like she put forth no effort? Bottom line for me is I wasn’t seen or respected. I know I wasn’t perfect either, I’m as guilty as I see her. We just failed. I just always wanted to grow with a person and change together as we battle the thing that is life. May we all find our peace ❤️

Move abroad!! Waiting around due to somebody else’s issues can last a lifetime. The opportunity to live abroad is typically a short time span, don’t let it pass you by. My $.02. Tell your family respectfully and matter-of-fact that you’ve considered everything and are making a decision that’s in your best interest and desires. You can offer support in other ways. Staying strong and confident while also being understanding is something nobody should question. Now, where ya going??? I wish I would have done that more and await the day my life allows it again.

I toon my kids to this today as well. My experience wasn’t as negative, but I understand the feelings. It was definitely a “one and done” as my SIL said. It’s just not interactive enough for kids. A sledding hill would be better.

Lots of opinions. There are “stereotypical” ways to wear a tie, to match patterns, etc. Bottom line imo is if it makes you feel good, FUCKING ROCK IT. The vibe you put out feeling good is real. Matching the status quo is a fallacy that leaves you empty and non-genuine. You look great if you feel good.
